Lights of the lamp posts nearby are flickering in front of Saint Antonio’s Chapel. It’s a very foggy night and the coldness chills to the bone. The weather is calm but stars are not visible. It’s a very dark night.
“See you at school tomorrow, Anna”.
Anna nods. “Okay. Don’t forget our practice tomorrow…”she reminded.
“Don’t worry, bestie” Christie chuckles as she walk to her mom’s minivan.
Anna slowly walks away from the chapel, heading toward a shady park, which looks beautiful during the day. Tonight, the park seems chilly and spooky, unlike the previous day. She ignores her fear knocking in her sanity door, and reciting Our Father’s prayer as many as she could, under her breath. She kept walking calmly but with a faster pace. She can feel someone is watching her as she creeps through the park. She sigh in relieve as she saw her house in just another 20 steps away. Suddenly a huge dark shadow appears in front of her. Its eyes glowing in red, as it grins, she can clearly see its sharp teeth with thick liquids at the side of its lips. It’s surely not saliva, as she could see under the dim light, it’s probably red or black, but this is no time to ponder such thing. She wanted to scream or run, but she felt like every receptor in her body has malfunction. Anna just pray in faith that God sent someone to save her right now. Just in instant, the creature’s teeth are now at her neck waiting to sink its teeth into her artery. She closed her eyes and asks for the forgiveness of sins before she dies.

The sound of Briana’s heels clacking can be heard clearly as she run up the staircase. She tried her best that she could to outrun the thing that’s chasing her. A cold sweat running down on her forehead, her breath gets more uneven as she arrives at each floor. She wanted to stop and rest for a while but the fear of not wanting to be killed keeps her going.
As she arrived at the seventh floor, the emergency door suddenly opened wide in front of her. She gasps in shocked. A tall and sharp looking man, wearing black robe like a priest standing straight in front of her. “Follow me” he told her. She followed him without thinking further, hoping that this will be her ticket to survive the monster. The man stood straight close to her, his right hand holding a wood stake, while left hand, gripping her arm. Then, he slowly pushes her to hide under the table. “Shhh…” he slightly smiles as if saying that she’ll be fine. He hand her a 6 inches cross and nod. Briana tried to smile back, but the fears inside her are overwhelming.
She can hear the door collapse, then the monster growl fiercely. She closed her eyes tight. The man whom she thought a priest, start to recite something in Latin. The monster starts to laugh.
“Poor Hendrik… Reading a bed time stories for me? Seriously?” more laugh burst out of the monster’s mouth. Hendrik keeps reciting his prayers. “Filthy human tries to kill me with words. What a day!” the monster continues.
“Yes, you would not be affected be the prayers I said, but merely by the faith I have to destroy you and your empire. Erik Valkyrie, you have broken the vow your ancestor has made. You shall perish to hell!” Hendrik said without any sense of fear.
On the inside, only he knows that his soul is trembling in fear, knowing that he is alone in this.
The Erik Valkyrie chuckled.
“Faith? You still have them? I thought you and your stupid organization is long gone… Just give it up and join me… You have a lot of potential to waste for the family that barely exists… I need human like you.”He tried to manipulate Hendrik.
Briana took a peek on Hendrik. He still stand straight in front of the monster without any movements. The monster she saw earlier has now changed into a good looking pale man, height about 180 cm.
Hendrik smirk. “I am not here to be your slave but to stop you from taking innocent women for your futile empire. I will always be there for you and watch you burn to hell,” he replied with confidence. Erik Valkyrie’s laugh fills up the spaces, echoing in the whole building.
“Oh.. Come on… Don’t be such a loyal dog, the real heirs don’t even bother about all these…”
Hendrik cut off before the vampire finish his word. “That’s what your son said to me before I cut off his head” he smirk, this time more like cynical smile.
Erik quickly turns into a raging huge monster. He jumps from where he stands attacking Hendrik. His claws grow longer, waiting to slash it on Hendrik’s flesh. Hendrik clench his fist, back away two steps, dodging Erik’s attack. He gets ready with wooden stake in his hand, gripping it tighter. Erik become frustrated as he grab the table where Briana were hiding then throw it towards Hendrik like it something light. The table landed right on Hendrik making him crouching in pain.
Erik smirk as he saw her, gasps in terror… Briana can feel a great fear biting in her veins. As the huge vampire attempt to grab her, she closed her eyes tightly and prays that she’ll die quick so that she won’t feel the pain. As she waited, she slightly opens her left eyes. The vampire was not in front of her anymore. She looks around nervously. She let out a high pitch scream as one office chair flew towards her, but it somehow landed right next to her. She can feel a tense fight in here, it all happen too fast, ordinary human can't see them. She just waits at corner of the room, waiting for the right time to escape. Suddenly she heard a loud crash on the wall opposite her. The monster looked wounded. Her breath gets unsteady, she feared that the monster would awake and attack her again. Not long after that, Hendrik carried Briana, who is still sitting there, clueless of what happen. He jumps off from the seventh floor, then jump again to the next building and so on until they reach a dockyard. He slowly put her down. She doesn’t know what to say. She just doesn’t expect that her hero is a vampire too. “Don’t think too much. Get in the boat. Milo will bring you to some place safer. You’ll be okay.” he said, convincing her. He don’t want to stay longer beside her, as his killing instinct gets furious, forcing him to bite her fragile flesh and suck the warm blood out of her. She still standing there looking at him. “Uh... Thanks…”she look at him, forcing a smile. He nods then signal her to get into the boat. He knows that Eric Valkyrie’s probably awake now. Awake and very angry. He thought.
“Don’t worry about Hendrik, he said he’ll be human after a week or two” says Milo taking Briana’s hand as she step into the boat.
“Human again?” Briana gets even more curious. Milo chuckles then nod. “Yeah… he has been working on a potion that can temporarily change you into a vampire. For months,”Milo paused as he starts to paddle. “Well, nobody expect that he made it… not even his grandfather. But, he did it anyway… putting himself as an experiment… He saved you, I take that his experiment was a success.”Milo smiles then took a glimpse at her for a seconds then focus on the water again, paddling through the river in the dark night.
Briana smile back. Her eyes wanders around… Fear hasn’t leave her yet; she doesn’t know what’s waiting for them in the dark at the river bank. Her imagination run wild, thinking of something that may never happen, or will probably happen. She doesn’t know. She just doesn’t feel safe at all. What if the monster woke up and chases them both now. Can she count on Milo? A tall skinny guy in white robe, with a crooked smile as he paddle along the river. What she don’t realize that Hendrik has been routing up with them beside the river. Not only him, Sam, Quinn and Terri too. They wanted to make sure they have secure the perimeter and have Briana arrives safely at the Clover Mansion.
Hendrik signaled Terri to fetch Briana as they arrive at the dock.
“Welcome to Clover Mansion. The safest place for now,” Milo introduced to her as they were getting closer to the dock. Then he parked the boat slowly. Terri was standing straight as he waited for Milo helping Briana climbing the Dock. Briana thanks Milo as she safely arrives at another strange place. Milo grins showing two big teeth of him.
“That’s Terri, he’s not as friendly as I am, but he’s okay. He’ll take you to the mansion” Milo explains. “See yah!” Briana smile. Milo friendliness lessens the worries in her head. This place is not that bad, she hopes.
