21 : Wishful Thinking

KEVIN'S POV

God, my legs hurts. I wonder if the rest of us feels the same way. We've been walking for hours, resting for few times though, but that doesn't help with my aching leg.

"Are you okay. Kev?"Adrian asks, laying his arms around my shoulder.

Rubbing my legs, scrunching my nose, "My legs is tired" I said to him.

Adrian chuckles, shaking his head, "Well," he ducked down in front of me, "Climb my back then, I'll carry  you"he said.

I forced a laughs. "Na-ah. I'm not.."gently scratching my forehead, feeling a bit embarrassed.

Adrian stood up straight, sighs. "Are you shy with me? Seriously?"

Standing there, bemused. I slap his shoulder, "Oh puh-lease! I'm not shy. It's just, I don't want to burden you. Well...um.." I smack my legs few times, "My legs is fine now."Grinning at him.

Adrian rolled his eyes. "Come on, man. It's just the two of us now."

Quinn who walks behind us, clears his throat, "Don't forget about me"he butt in.

Adrian and I glance at each other, then we both laughs.

As I stopped laughing, my face frowned, thinking how is Moon holding up right now.

Does she already arrived at Laurencia safely with Scott and Sam?

Shaking my head, I kicked out all of the negative thoughts, and focus on finding our way home.

If it's not because of the Wendigos, I'm sure we are already at home right now.

Because of them I have to separate with my precious princess. Loud sighs.

"You okay?"Quinn inquire, walking beside me.

I glance at him, nodding weak. "I guess so"a bitter smile drawn on my face.

We walk through the narrow path of bushy forest. The view is very different here.

This forest is too thick, filled with tall cypresses, making it dark, with very little amount of light, helping us to see what's on the way. Quinn sways the sword in his hand, clearing the path for us.

Not long after that, we found a streaming small river,

three of us eyeing on each other.

Quinn dip his hand into the water, "It seems shallow."he commented, sniffed.

"I don't know, Quinn.. Don't you think the water seems so..."my face scrunch,

"black?"Adrian offers.

I nodded. "Yeah.. it's black.. what if, something is waiting for us inside the water? I take no risk on that.."I stated.

Quinn flattened his lips. "I kinda agree with you, but how are we going to get across this black river?"he asks.

I sighs, my hands on my waist, thinking will be easier if I am a geek like Pgie, or Jaba. Man, this is beyond my capability.

Quinn nudge my elbow, his lips puckered pointed at Adrian, few meters behind me.

We look at Adrian who is busy looking out for something in the bushes.

"Ryan, what are you doing?"Quinn query.

Adrian quickly turn his face to us, rubbing his neck, he forced a laugh. "I thought I saw something small..."

I wrinkled my forehead, "Sma..?"just before I finish my words, flocks of mini human jumping out from the bushes, more like an elves, except that their teeth are very long, and their eyes are glowing in red.
