Chapter Five:

Almost Lover

I love you.

I'm sick. I MUST be. Or I'm hallucinating. I mean this was Drake. Drake didn't do well with emotions. He either got angry or pain in the butt cocky. Drake wouldn't say he loved me. He calls me a moron and told me more than once that I didn't have anything to show off physically. He's never ever given me a compliment.

"L-L-Love me?" I shuttered as my cheeks turned red and warm just as my stomach got warm and twisted into a very painful knot. "You mean like a friend? Or a brother?"

Drake kissed me then and his lips moved against mine. I gasped against his lips before he pulled away for a moment as my brain tried to catch onto what the hell was going on. He breathed against my lips before pressing his lips on mine again. He moved against my lips as my eyes fell closed and I moaned as I felt a weird heat in my stomach that made my whole body buzz. His tongue parted my lips as I gripped his shoulders. We fell on Ruth's bed as he hovered over me.

Ruth…would be so…pissed.

He pulled away from me as I opened my eyes a little and gasped for air. He kissed me again and I followed his movements. My heart pounded in my throat. Has anything felt this good? I closed my eyes again and held onto him. I can't remember anything feel so damn nice.

He pulled away and pressed a light kiss under my ear and traveled down my neck. I've never been so happy that I didn't wear turtle necks. He found a spot under my ear that made me jump and move beneath him. Another weird noise escaped my lips. He gently sucked on this area as his hand moved from my knee to my thigh and the other caressed my face.

I was too afraid to move.

Drake pulled away suddenly as his eyes widened and his mouth opened, but nothing came out. Okay, maybe I'm dreaming again and I'm having a repeat of that awkward dream.

"I'm sorry," Drake whispered as he got off of me. I sat up and he went toward the window.

"Drake, what's-wait, where are you going?" I screamed as he opened the window. My legs gave out on me and Drake caught me. I clutched onto him, but he got up and let me go. "Drake-!"

He stopped at the window with his back facing me. Why couldn't I move?

"Things have changed. I'm sorry-"

"Nothing has changed!" I screamed at him, wishing my legs would work. "What's going on with you? Tell me and I'll protect you, don't you know how much you mean to me? You JERK!" I saw his back stiffen.

He opened the window and I scrambled to my feet before wrapping my arms around his waist.

"Stop it!" I screamed so loudly I was sure someone would come in at any moment. Drake touched my hands and I felt my cheeks get warm.

"My feelings for you will never change," he whispered. "I know human promises are as fickle as your emotions, but promise me one thing?"

I didn't say anything because I knew something had shattered between us. If I didn't say anything…If I didn't acknowledge it then maybe I could keep the pieces together with tape and glue if I had to. I hugged him tighter and pressed my forehead against his back. I won't lose him.

"Be happy."

He unlocked my hands and he was gone.

I fell on my butt and the palms of my hands. The window was still open and the snow blew in, but I kept thinking he would come back.
