You sat at your table in the large restaurant, tapping your foot impatiently. Your date was 30 minutes late, and you began to think she wasn't going to show. You weren't necessarily surprised as this was the 3rd time she had done it. She always came up with some excuse.
You sipped at your water as you waited, growing more embarrassed by the second. People began to stare at you with sympathy in their eyes as if they knew you had gotten stood up. You desperately wanted to leave, but at the same time had that spark of hope that she would show up last minute.
"Hi, are you ready to order yet?" Your waitress suddenly asked, grabbing your attention. You looked up at him and gave your best fake smile.
"No I'd like to wait a while longer." You said and he gave you a sad smile.
"Okay." Was all he said before walking off. As he left you sighed, coming to terms with the fact that you had indeed once again been stood up. You rubbed at your temples as you shut your eyes tightly, feeling a mix of anger and rejection.
What made it worse is that this was a fancy restaurant and you had to make reservations the day before to get a good table. Not to mention you were wearing your favorite blue dress and had spent nearly 2 hours getting ready for your date who didn't even show. What a waste of time.
You let out one more heavy sigh before beginning to stand up, getting ready to leave. As you were standing up however, some stranger began to walk towards you. She seemed young, with short and choppy black hair, these gorgeous eyes, and glasses that were slightly too big for her face. It made her look cute however. She was wearing nice black pants and a tucked in white dress shirt. She smiled as she approached you, and you furrowed your brows.
"I'm so sorry I'm late babe traffic was just awful." She exclaimed loudly, gaining the attention of many people. You looked around to make sure that she was indeed talking to you, but that was quickly confirmed when she hugged you, wrapping her arms around your waist. You instinctively wrapped your own arms around her neck and hugged back, although you were extremely confused. She pulled away and smiled once again.
"My name's Bex. I noticed you got stood up and I know how badly it sucks so, just go with it?" She asked quietly and you stared at her for a minute. She was cute, and you had nothing to lose. You nodded and smiled at her thankfully.
"Yeah." You replied softly as you sat back down and she took a seat across from you.
"Besides, any guy who stood you up is an idiot, you're gorgeous." She complimented with a wink and you laughed lightly, a blush appearing on your face.
"Actually I'm gay, but thank you. You're pretty cute yourself." You replied and she sighed in relief.
"Oh thank god, I was totally going out on a limb here and hoping you liked girls, or at least weren't a homophobe." She replied and you laughed.
"Yeah no, I'm extremely gay." You replied and she smiled.
"So am I." She said and you smiled back.
"I'm Y/N." You said, deciding you should probably introduce yourself.
"A pretty name for a pretty girl, I love it." She said and your blush returned.
"So do you flirt with all your fake dates, or just me?" You asked with a laugh and she laughed as well.
"Actually I've never done this before, but I saw a gorgeous girl and a perfect opportunity that I knew I couldn't miss." She said, moving some of her hair out of her eye.
"Well thank you." You said and she smiled.
"So tell me about yourself." She said and you did just that. The two of you talked for hours over your dinner. You had never met someone that was so easy to talk to, and you loved it. She was smart, funny, kind, sweet, and not to mention beautiful. You had totally forgotten about your no show date, and were now totally enticed with this Bex girl. However before to knew it, it was getting late and you had to go. You began to pull your wallet out when she stopped you.
"No no, I've got it. I insist." She said and you nodded with a smile.
"I guess I'll just have to pay next time." You said and she smirked at you.
"There's going to be a next time?" She asked and you smiled sheepishly.
"I'm hoping." You replied and she smiled as she stood up.
"Well I suppose I'll need your number so we can plan this "next time"." She said and you quickly handed her your phone.
"Here put your number in. I'll text you tonight when I get home." You said and she put her number in then handed it back. You both shared a hug, and it was such a warm and pleasant hug.
"Can't wait till next time." She said before walked off. You smiled as she left. Tonight wasn't so bad after all.
