Present time
"We found them!"
"You mean I found them, Raised. Do not assume my merits."
"You have quite an attitude for a mangy coyote mutt I could squish singlehandedly,"
The Raised replies.
"No longer a mere coyote, you swine. The blood ritual made sure of that. You forget my importance in the Master's plans, and how easy you are replaceable with the next Raised willing to obey the Master."
"Signis? You came to deliver this message personally?"
"Finally! I get to talk to the person in charge, a civilized wolf, unlike some warhogs I know. Run along now Raised! Me and your superior have things to discuss. And yes, I came personally because the Master has a special interest in your endeavor."
"I know. The Raised can stay. Now tell me."
"Your show your ass, wolf friend. This is the map of the next area, we can reach it in five days of hard running."
"Good then, Signis. I already have a plan."
"Very nice! 20 seconds into the discussion and the wolf-boss already has a plan. See Raised? That's how it's done."
"In five days, they may as well move. Have you considered that?" the Raised asks.
"I'm sure the Master's special agent, seeing how important this endeavor is to the Master, will stay with us to continue advising us about the enemy's movement and situation," the wolf says.
"While I don't like what you're forcing me to do, wolf, I appreciate the cunning way you phrased it. It is obvious to me why this Raised is only here to take your orders," Signis answers.
"They way you two fight makes me think of competing partners who haven't had the courage to confess their undying love to each other yet," the wolf stings them both.
"The coyote is inferior and obviously not a female. If there is nothing else, I'll go prepare the men," saying that, the Raised leaves.
"Your choice of words this time was both offensive and grotesque, wolf. Perhaps you should better contain them, lest you find yourself with a pair of teeth in your face while you sleep," Signis warns.
"If that is your best threat, go back to supervising the target and send me regular updates until the rest of us get there. I never did understand how coyotes can move so fast across the desert."
"Like I would ever tell you that."
"You would tell the Master if he asked."
"He already knows."
"Well then, if there is nothing else..."
"Since the Master's plans come first for me, you should know another attack is being planned by the Master's army against the wolves. Use this information however you see fit."
"You know more about the army and the previous battle."
"I do. Everything passes through me."
"May I know more, please?"
"Now you are being polite?"
"Bite when you must, lick when you have to."
"If you ever need a job in the information department, you know, when you don't have any more mates and Alphas to kill, look me up, we'll work something out."
"And the information I need now?"
"Yes, yes. I'm getting there. There was one major battle. The wolves lost 30% of their forces. So did we. Then we retreated."
"So isn't that like a defeat?"
"The Master does not think so. There are more warhog soldiers available in the west."
"So why don't we reinforce the army here and crush the enemy wolves?"
"Already calling them enemies? Some of them were in your pack."
"Former pack. And they became my enemies the moment Jena killed my mate."
"Sheesh, You are the embodiment of vengefulness! You need to understand that for the Master, this whole situation in the East is just a side show. At least for now. What he needs is to have everyone busy here, so they don't interfere with what he is doing in the west."
"Are you serious? 30 percent of the fighting population in the East is just a sideshow for him?"
"Aha. You're finally getting it. Even if he loses the entire army here, with the enemy still having 50% of their warriors available, the Master would still see it as a victory, since nobody would dare to go to war at half strength. I think."
"Well then, let's wish each other luck in our next endeavor."
"Killing your foe's mate, or making him the Master's plaything!"
"I'm fine with either option. I just wish I can see Jena's face when she finds out."
*A.N.: I've at updating this week. Couldn't write either. Grandmother died. Got nothing else to say. Sorry!
