As fate would have it, or a certain witch, a gust of wind passes through and between them right at this point, finding Alain upwind of Jena.
'That scent! Lana that's a pine forest!'
'But no roasted nuts.'
'For a moment I thought maybe...'
'This isn't Al'Aeen. The other part of his fragrance is fresh, like the earth in the forests of the Mountain River Pack.'
'That pleasurable humidity of the pine trees there but...'
'No trace of a wild storm. Definitely not Al'Aeen. Then why can we feel him like...'
"You're taking too long!" Alain says, dropping to wolf form and in a couple of steps and less than a second later, shifts back to his human form, taking Jena in his arms, their skin in direct contact in so many places.
"Alpha!" Alastair, while quiet up to this moment comes forth in his large war-form, with all the others closing in a bit behind, some shifting into animals and some into their own war-forms.
A powerful snarl comes out of Alain's throat, aimed at the largest war-form. A death challenge should he come any closer, the power behind it undeniable.
Had it come from Jena, Alastair has no doubt he would be unable to move. However, from a challenging Alpha or someone with the potential to become one, the snarl doesn't hold the same power and he continues to advance, his need to defend his Alpha overruling the challenge and the obvious danger that comes with it.
"Mate?" Jena asks incredulously and Alastair stops in his tracks, watching.
"Now I really know what these tingly sparks mean. I have no idea how I didn't see it before."
"Al'Aeen?"
"Not quite. Not anymore. It's Alain now."
"But how..."
"I'll definitely tell you. No guarantees you'll believe me though. However..." he doesn't hesitate to capture her lips, possessively biting and desperately sucking, his tongue seeking entry with the perseverance of a battering ram against the castle's inner gates. Her mouth gives way soon after, countering with her own tongue, happy for once to come in second place in their need for each other.
"Such a fool I was!"
"I'll make sure to make you atone for it later!"
"Oh right, could you let Lana come all the way forward?"
"Why?"
"Please?"
"Yes... Alain?" With Lana in control, Jena's voice sounds a bit deep, almost sultry.
"Not Alain. Edrik. Hey there, gorgeous!"
"Edrik? As in..."
"Alain's wolf. I look forward to getting to know you!"
"Me too!"
"So, you have an inner wolf now? And you turn into a wolf as well? But what about your wife and child?" Jena asks in quick succession, having retaken control.
"I've got no anchors holding me back anymore! But shouldn't we talk somewhere more private? And perhaps with a few more clothes on? Not that I mind, but on a distraction scale of 1 to 10, you score a solid 400!"
Jena blushes as she looks around, every member of her pack now forming a large circle around them, with everyone looking towards the exterior.
'Can you believe we got our second chance already? We just talked about it earlier! And he has a wolf!'
'Yes! I know! It's almost like the Moons are trying to compensate for all the shit in the past!'
"Follow me, please," the Beta tells the bleeding stranger, currently carrying his Alpha bridal style. He then links to the entire pack:
"Alpha Jena just found her true mate! We are coming back to the settlement now."
