Chapter 40

Guards and wolfs were all along the house, with a straight face and bowing respectfully to their alpha, what I didn’t get is where was the kids and mom’s and pack elders? I mean this pack cant be all guards, that wouldn’t even be a home. Honestly I feel sorry for those who have to live in here, everything is so serious and no one talks to each other. Of course I am no one to judge the alpha’s leadership-

“ok we can take a seat in my office, I would prefer it just be us Maya” the alpha said snapping me out of my thoughts.  “No we have to have all 3 of us. Dustin is to report back to his father and I run my pack with Jace, he needs to hear what I do” I wasn’t here to negotiate, I was here for answers.  He sighed but nodded. We reached a black door at  the end of a hall way, there was no one in this hall except for us, that made me a bit nervous. “ok wait out here” he spoke to the guards before opening the door.

I walked in after him and looked around the place. I was a simple office. There was a brown desk in the center, scattered with papers and a chair behind it. the room was a dark blue and it had a bookshelf behind the desk.  There was a couch on the side of the room in front of the desk, it looked like a pretty normal alpha office, used and homely.

“take a seat” he motioned to the 3 chairs in front of his desk. I nodded and took the one in the middle and Jace and Dustin sat on either side of me.  “ok so let’s get down to business” I said staring straight at him. he did not flinch or look uncomfortable, he looked genuinely interested in what I had to say.  “my father’s phone records show that a call was made to you about 3 weeks ago, maybe a bit less. The call was quick and short. What was it about” I said the last part a bit harsh, but that call simply proved he was involved with the rouges, he did not report anything so that means he would have to be involved in their plans.

“I didn’t get a call from any rouges, I don’t associate with them” he said coldly. That was the giveaway. He replied quick and harsh, like he knew his answer all too well. He projected anger in it though, that was the main give away, he knew something that we weren’t to figure out. “do I need to show you these phone records?” I didn’t have it but he fidgeted in his seat a little. “that’s what I thought, so unless you wanna start talking then this will be reported to the council ” which reminded me I had to give them a call and inform them about me and Jace’s pack now that it was official.

“there was a small call here by someone but I don’t know if it was them.” he chose his words carefully, not giving up that he was lying at first, but also giving us what we wanted to not report  him.  “and what exactly was that call about?” Jace spoke from beside me. “I don’t have any business with the rouges, they simply wanted to know where some other pack was located” it all started coming together. He was telling the truth because he looked a little confused, we had still not told him what we wanted with the rouges.

But no alpha would admit getting a call from rouges and not reporting it. it may have no been a threat but every alpha is still to report it. “what pack location did you give away” I asked, they had probably figured out the strongest pack, now they just needed to location. Some packs moved around a lot and cover their tracks so no un-wanted visitors arrive.

“they wanted a head towards the Fay pack, that is runned by a female alpha who’s mate passed away but she refused to give up the position” my face scrunched up in confusion. Why would they target a female alpha… I’ve heard about the leader of the Fay pack. her name is Riley, she is smart and fierce. But she carries on with life without her mate, she has been one of the strongest. Almost no alpha females carry on life when their mate dies.  They become a shell, some may break out. but none of them have the energy to fight back and run a pack.
