Chapter 19

Maya’s POV

Dustin banged on the door trying to get in. “just go away!” I screamed. Chris looked frustrated. “oh my god would you both just stop it? I'm so sick of hearing you two fights and having to pick sides! Maya your always starting something and Dustin always bas to make it worse. I just can’t stand it anymore!” he screamed. I narrowed my eyes at him “oh so you think this all my fault now? like seriously you care about me? well I really can’t tell right now! if I’m so annoying then just leave. No one is forcing you to stay!” I screamed back. I wasn’t one that liked to be insulted, I’m pretty defensive and now he was just pissing me off.

“you know what I'm regretting now? ever choosing you over my mate! She has like everything over you. And she’s not a flipping idiot that overreacts over everything and always feels sorry for herself like you! Would you just get over yourself, you’re not the only one with problems in this world” he yelled. Dustin broke down my door and walked in the same time he said that. I had to close my eyes for a second there. That was pretty harsh, I didn’t know that’s how he thought of me. hurt coursed through my body as I no longer had the energy to fight with him.

“Nice to know what you really think of me” I stated then walked out the broken door. No one made a move to stop me because they all heard Chris loud and clear. They were all in shock right now and Chris, well I guess he never really cared in the first place.

I walked back out the front door and into my car. Screw it I could manage just fine on my own. I didn’t need anyone, Jace was being so stupid. I was stupid for thinking he would back me up, if he couldn’t even back me up there how would he do it with the rouges. I would be dead for sure. I have better od’s by myself.

I sped down the street this time really going for something to eat. I was going to eat at Mindy’s restaurant but I was cutting time close. Now I don’t give a flying flip of what anyone thinks. I drove into a the parking lot of some random place called Sue Anna’s Diner. Seems off key enough, I walked in to be met by the warm lingering smell of food in the air, with waitress’s bustling around. The décor was blue and green and it was fairly nice and bright. I took a seat in one of the booths near a window. Within the next minute a girl with fire red hair shows up. I couldn’t find her scent, but I didn’t care. What was a waitress to me? ‘what would you like” she spoke. Her voice was so small and high pitched that it kind of annoyed me for some reason. “some chicken nuggets and fries please.” I replied out of practice. That was like all I ever ate from diners and fast food places, sometimes with the exception of chicken. “sure your order will be ready in 10 minutes” she said before walking off at a quick paste that made her look like she had to go to the washroom

I checked through my contact list on my phone. Was there anyone I could trust to tell that I was going. My finger stopped on one name. I knew it was a long shot but there was still some hope with the way she acted towards me yesterday. Emily. Before I had a chance to second guess myself I pressed the call button. “hello” he voice rang into the phone. “is anyone with you right now?” I cut straight to the point. “no, where the hell are you Maya? You just left and now Chris is flipping out after everything, Jace is trying to track you down and Dustin is just locked up in his room” her voice sounded normal and gentle, like the old Emily I knew and loved. Maybe she’s still there.

“ I don’t care what they’re doing. Can I trust you just this one last time Em?” I really hoped this worked. “of course you can May’ she used her old nickname for me and her voice softened. “I’m going to go in alone today. I’m going to leave my phone on though. It will be on with you. So you will be able to hear everything that is being said, just in case. I don’t want anyone with you though. Record it, it could be used for anything at this point. I just need to know I can trust you not to let my go out there. If there is anything that gives it away I’ll be in a lot of danger” I chose my words carefully not wanting to worry her. there was a chance I was not coming back, I wasn’t stupid I knew that already. And I wanted them to have all they need in case the rouges decide to attack or anything . “Maya you know that I’ll always be there for you. I’m sorry for everything. I think I just lost myself for a bit and I needed you to show me who I really am.” She sobbed into the phone. I guess she caught onto my message.

“just be careful May. I still need you” her voice was a little more steady this time but it still cracked. “always Em and I plan on being back. don’t worry about the past.  Sometimes it needs to be forgotten to move on.” I said before hanging up.

I didn’t  want to talk to her anymore, I would call her when it was time and then she would have all she needed to keep the pack safe. The red head came back with my food, setting it down before giving me a annoyingly bright smile and walking away. It was kind of creepy. I have no idea who the hell she is but there’s something off about her.

I finished eating in record time, I was so hungry. I walked out of the restaurant as my stomach settled. It started getting upset as I had the urge to throw it all back up. I climbed back into the car and went to the mall. There was nothing wrong with shopping in spare time I thought to myself with a shrug.

I went into some random store that had cute clothes in the window. When I was searching through rack full of dresses I caught a quick movement from the right of me. I showed no interest but I knew someone was following me. it was clear that they had someone keeping tabs on me. I pretend not to notice though.  I moved around to the other side hoping to get a better view or at least something. A flash of red moved as I moved.

I moved again, over to the sport where I saw it move. It was obviously a girl. A guy could not be that small to stay hidden behind clothes racks and go unnoticed. I crept around the racks and saw all I needed to see to figure out who it was. It was the creepy waiter from the restaurant. I couldn’t pick up her scent but I over looked it to easily I guess. She was following me, most likely working for them. I sent a quick text to Emily ‘don’t reply. All text I send are information. A girl with red hair is following me, a slight small figure and very sneaky and light on her feet’ it said. this was in case she decided to go and try and pass herself off as a helpless girl to try and get in the inside. You never know what these rouges do.

I left the store fast, trying to lose her. I darted around the mall, turning all the corners possible to lose her. I took the west entrance out and ran across the parking lot to my car. I got in a started in, sparing no time in speeding away. I had to lose her. there was something up  here and they had her following me for some unknown reason. It was frustrating me how much there was to this situation that I don’t know.

I turned the street, ending up wherever I do. After about 20 minutes’ of driving like a mad women I was finally convinced I lost her. I lost count of how many cars I cut off and how much red light I ran. I cut the engine and berried my head in my hands. This was not going to be easy. It was already 2:30 and I needed to get to the café before them to park my car around the back. I will levae it running for a quick break.

I let out a sigh and started the car again; this was no time for breaks. A minute late I pulled around the back of the café. I changed my sweater into a black one that hid my face more. I pulled my hood on, and put on sunglasses on, walking inside the cafe.

I sat at a small table on the less occupied side of the café. I waited for ten minutes before 5 men walked in. they were all dressed in black or all sorts and there was one in the middle wearing a red shirt. He was quite old and there was something odd about him. something familiar.

They looked around and spotted me sitting over here. They must have been keeping tabs on me for some time now if they can so easily spot me without any effort.

The guy in red took a seat across form me and the other 4 stood behind him. “Maya long time no see” he spoke. I cocked my head to the side. with his glasses on I couldn’t see his eyes but his scent was faintly familiar. “I'm sorry but I don’t think we’ve met before.” My voice was flat and emotionless. My phone had already been on, it was called to Emily’s so she was hearing everything right now, or at least I hope she was.

“oh that’s right. it’s been a while. You’ve certainly grown into a strong woman Maya, and now you will come back and join me” he stated. I was confused for a second but the moment he took off his glasses I drew in a sharp intake of breath. It was the man that was reported dead years ago. His body was missing but he was said to be confirmed dead. It can’t be. The man that sat in front of me now, was my dad.
