Caught Up In This Love

Chapter 8

Mia POV
Tomorrow I'll be heading back home, thank God. Not that I have anything against my grandparents but Joe and Bear can get really annoying at times. Right now they're in the back yard in the swimming pool. My grandparents left to get us lunch and I'm watching the boys. I'm on my phone and tap on my news app, I normally go on here to see what my favorite celebrities are up to. As I scrolled I read a headline and it shocked me:

"Ned Rock N Roll arrested this morning, accused of attempting murder against two individuals"

Could this be true? Ned trying to kill two innocent people? I tapped on the source and began to read:

"Reading Police arrest Ned Rocknroll in accusation murder. Who would he be attempting to kill? You may ask. Surprisingly his wife, Kate Winslet and her actor friend Leonardo DiCaprio. It was reported that he threatened to kill Kate Winslet with a butcher knife, and had abused of her before the threat. Fortunately the police was notified in time before Ned Rocknroll performed this 'murder'. Mr Rocknroll will be in jail until further notice of sentiency for his act."

My jaw dropped and my heart sank. NED WANTED TO KILL MY MUM AND UNCLE LEO?! But why? I began to panic how did I not know this? I know it was hours ago, but why didn't my mum tell me. Should I tell anyone I thought to myself. No, I should talk to my mum before I attempt to spill this tea to anyone else. I dial my mums number waiting for her to pick up.

Kate POV
My phone began to buzz as I was cuddled up against Leo's body. I get up and reach towards my night stand to grab my phone. It was Mia, what could have happened?

Kate: "Hello, Mia is everything alright?"

Mia: "Ye-yes mum, Joe, Bear and I are okay. I just wanted to call you to see if this is true"

Kate: "Okay sweetheart what is it?"

Mia: "Is it true that Ned tried to kill you and Uncle Leo this morning?"

Kate felt a knot in her stomach as she heard what Mia had asked her. She didn't know what to say, so she tried her best to stay calm and tell her the truth.

Kate: "Yes darling, its true but me and your Uncle Leo are okay."

Mia: "But why did he want to kill you mum?! He's your husband why would he try to do such a thing?"

Kate: "There's a lot of things that lead up to this, I promise I will tell you tomorrow when you get home, but for now don't worry, he's locked up in jail."

Mia: "Okay mum, I just wanted to make sure you were alright"

Kate: "Were fine I promise! You haven't told anyone right sweetie?"

Mia: "No I called you first just to make sure all of this is true, do you want me to keep it secret until you tell them?"

Kate: "Yes darling, now take care and I'll see you tomorrow, I love you"

Mia: "I love you too mum"

Leo POV
As Kate finished speaking with Mia, I could see that she had a lot of things running through her head. She paced back and forth with her arms crossed. "Kate darling, are.. you okay? You seem stressed" I asked. "Leo, Mia found out about Ned and how he tried killing us this morning.." "Did you tell her why?"
"No, I told her I would tomorrow, but I can't find the words to explain, about 'US' and what's been going on with Ned and that chick he was with in Germany" Kate exhaled.

"Don't try to think too hard about it, just tell her how things are. By the way she's 16, she should be mature enough to understand." I said tenderly grabbing onto Kate's shoulders. "You're right Leo, she's already grown and deserves to know the truth and every detail that happened." Kate said placing her hand on my cheek. "I don't know what I would do without you Leo, seriously, you're always there for me whenever I can't solve a problem, you're there when I'm hopeless. You're a true life saver, and I some times feel bad because you have to deal with my shit all the time. I'm sorry" Kate teared up as she held me tight. "Kate don't feel sorry about me! That's what friends are for right? I do it because I love you and care about your happiness." "Leo but--" I cut her off as I place my index finger on her lips disabling her from saying another word. "It's okay, don't feel bad" I lean in and pecked a kiss on her cheek. "I love you Leo, I have and always will" "Ditto" I say in response.

LATER THAT DAY

Kate POV
Surprisingly I was able to get over this horrific Ned thing that occurred this morning. I couldn't of done it without my babe, Leo. He's is actually the only person that knows me well enough to calm me down in these type of situations. I went downstairs and made myself and Leo a cup of tea, I didn't know where Leo was but I just prepared him one if he appeared.

I went out to my backyard and laid on my hammock swinging myself away from my problems (honestly me). As soon as I began to close my eyes, I felt a hand on my shoulder. It was Leo. He looked like he had just woken up from a nap. "Hello darling" I said looking up at Leo who was towering over me. "Hello Katie" Leo shrugged his nose. "Lay with me" I said. I made room for Leo in my hammock and he got in. There was barely any room so the only way we could fit was me getting on top of him, which didn't bother me. So I did.

Leo POV
As Kate got on top of me she couldn't help but giggle. As she got comfortable, she laid her head on my neck and wrapped herself onto my body. I held her tight and felt her tenderly kissing my neck repeatedly. This is all I needed, me and the love of my life together. As the breeze swung us side to side, me and Kate began to doze off.

1 HOUR LATER [Leo POV]

I woke up to the showering of kisses from Kate. I gave her a smile and caressed he face. "Why can't it always be like this Leo, me and you against the world free of problems and the negativity that this world brings upon us?" Kate said. "Well it can be like this, if we choose it to be" I responded. She finally got the memo. "Are you saying that you want to be with me for the rest of your life?" Kate asked eagerly. "If you wish" I replied. "That would be wonderful" Kate stated as she lifter her leg on top of my torso. I gripped on it and planted a kiss on her forehead.

Kate POV
Gosh if only we confessed our feelings to each other sooner. Maybe we could've lived our lives happier than we have. Now it makes me think how heartbroken Leo had felt when he found out about my marriages, or when he walked me down the aisle for my wedding with Ned. What pain had he had to deal with, and the sorrow he had while dating those girls knowing that they weren't, me. But that's in the past and we're now in the present. It isn't too late to love, it isn't too late for 'us'. <3
