Chapter Fourteen

Lee was staring at her phone and smiling when I found her.

''Here I thought-'' She put away her phone in a flash of light when I came in the classroom. I gave her a dubious look as she placed her phone in the pocket of her coat. She slipped off the desk and avoided my gaze,

''Are you looking at a porn site?'' I asked jokingly and her cheeks heated up. She came towards me and slapped my shoulder,

''Crazy girl, I would watch with you if I had to.''

I chuckled, ''Why are you here? You didn't go home?''

It was already four and I had come out after handing in the article I wrote to our club head. Lee wasn't part of any extracurricular so she always went home early.

''I'll go with you. Actually, why don't you come to my place tonight? We'll watch movies!'' My smile flattered. I hadn't been at her home ever since my last conversation with Zaid. A month had passed of us avoiding each other and him pretending that I didn't exist.

''Um, mom said I should help out with the house.''

''What help? You guys have a house keeper and a chef now.'' My cheeks turned red,

''Come to think of it, you've been avoiding coming to my place a while now.'' She eyes me suspiciously, ''do you plan to tell me anytime soon?''

When I didn't say a word, she sighed, ''Well, its only fair, I guess.''

''What does that mean? Are you also hiding things from me?'' I couldn't help but ask but she was already heading out of the classroom,

''Who knows'' I heard her whisper.

That Friday I joined her at lunch reluctantly when I saw Bianca talking to her. Bianca glanced at me when I came with my tray and smiled,

''Your hair look nice, did you get highlights.'' She asked me looking at my hair,

''Its spray, I did that.'' Lee replied for me, looking smug. Bianca looked impressed, but she moved on quickly. Once she was gone Lee leaned forward,

''She's totally seeing someone.''

''Its been months now, when will you give up?''

Apparently she had no plans to quit today so she continued, glancing a risk at Bianca and Jade who were eating at their usual table, ''I saw her kissing someone on my way home, I was sure it was her!''

I blinked, ''Are you really sure?''

She nodded, ''Yeah and the guy was tall. He was wearing formal wear, I think its an older guy. Because she was in her uniform.''

''Did she come here to bribe you to keep it a secret?'' I asked jokingly,

''She doesn't know that I know.''

Sighing I took a bite of my sandwich, ''I've never pointed it out, but why do you like playing detective so much? Let her be.''

Lee shook her head, a wicked glint in her eye, ''I plan to find out who that guy was.'' There she go again. Why bother with other people business anyways. But I had started to notice that Lee had grown secretive lately and her interest in Bianca had increased a lot more.

''How can I just let her be?'' She murmured,

''What did you say?''

''Nothing,'' she grabbed her notebook from the table top and stood up, ''I need to quickly go and hand in my essay for english. I'll be right back!'' I watched her go and my attention was suddenly caught by her phone that was lying on the table. She had left her phone.
