24.

Ali looked down at Rhys, her mouth gaped wide open. Words escaped her, she couldn't think straight enough to put words together. Rhys still knelt in front of her smiling up at her. His dark hair shone in the pale moonlight, the moon shining a dim light down him made his handsome features look more handsome than ever before. Finally Ali felt her brain coming back to normal and smile broke out instantly on her face. "Yes! Yes, Rhys, I'll marry you!" She cried as she threw her arms around his neck crushing his body to hers.

"Woah! Let me put the ring on you before we lose it out here." Rhys chuckled as he removed the dainty diamond ring from it's velvet bed and slipped it on Ali's left ring finger.

Ali gazed at it lovingly, the white gold band fit snugly and even in the dim light of the moon the diamond sparkled brightly. "It's so beautiful, Rhys."

"Just like you, baby." Rhys pulled her in for a kiss, wrapping his arms around her waist pulling Ali's body flush with his. Suddenly he broke the kiss, breathing heavily he stared at Ali, "So you think we should go tell your parents?"

Ali gasped, "There aren't going to let us get married so young!"

Suddenly Rhys burst into a round of laughter, "Ali, we wouldn't get married until we graduate." He could see her face soften with understanding, now only if her parents would have the same reaction that would be great. Rhys knew they accepted their promise to one another but would they like this? They had a year before they graduated, he could wait, but could Ali.

"So you ready to tell them?" Ali asked quietly, again staring at her new engagement ring. Rhys simply nodded, before they began the short walk back to the house he bent over and scooped up Ali's train once again handing it over to her. Rhys lead Ali out slowly so she wouldn't trip in her gown, within minutes they were on the front porch of Ali's childhood home. Ali turned and smiled warmly, "I can't wait to marry you."

"Me too." Rhys lean and kissed Ali soft lips, before opening the door allowing her to enter first.

"Mom? Dad?" Ali called out as she entered the house dropping her train allowing it to flow gently behind her.

"Yes?" Connor answered first.

"Can you two come down here please." Ali asked as she made her way into the living room, once again sitting down on the couch. This couch and the conversations that follow often make Rhys a nervous wreck. But some how tonight he couldn't feel nervous, everything went so perfectly. He knew even if they didn't approve in a years time he and Ali would be free to do whatever they wanted, that included getting married.

A few minutes later Kalee and Connor joined them in the living room, both dressed for bed with robes wrapped tightly around themselves. "What's wrong?" Connor questioned as he eyed them both as he took a seat across from them.

"Well," Ali started unable to keep a smile from her face she was grinning from ear to ear, "Rhys asked me to marry him, and I agreed!" Ali blurted out quickly then held her left hand wiggling her fingers showing off her new ring.

Kalee gasped as she clapped her hand over her mouth and Connor just sat quietly with an unphased look on his face. "Oh my, Ali. Do you two think you are really ready for marriage?"

Before Ali could respond Rhys spoke up, "We are going to have a long engagement. The wedding won't be until after we graduate, the same thing with the claiming. I want Ali to enjoy her last year of high school and same as myself. I want the whole world I love your daughter, and this is a symbol of that love."

"Well, I guess I can't disagree with that." Connor spoke with a even voice. "Even though you two are engaged I want you to remember you are both underage and I expect you two to behave as such."
