Chapter 22

It's been three days since the funeral, it has rained non stop. Tony has been quiet, Loki didn't know what to do. It's almost as if Tony loves Steve more than Loki, even though that's not right it just feels like it. 

"Tony..?" Loki said softly, they were both laying in bed, Tony was facing the other way just dead silent. "Baby please talk to me. I love you.. You were doing so good.." He rubbed Tony's arm gently. "You were talking things out when you were sad.."

"That's before my best friend died!!!" Tony snapped and sat up, still not facing Loki. "He died! He is dead and is never coming back! Do you know what that feels like?! To have your heart ripped out of your chest?! To have your whole life.. gone.." Tony got up, "He is gone.." he walked out and down to the basement. Loki got up quickly and followed him but he wasn't quick enough to get into the lab before Tony locked the door. 

"Tony! You can't just shut me out!!!" Loki banged on the glass. "You can't just kick me out of your life because he died!"

"Shut him up would ya, Jarvis?" Tony said, now there was no more outside noise coming in. 

"Let me in!!" Loki banged on the glass some more, this time with more force. Nothing worked, he was locked out. Loki's heart dropped, it felt like he was in a cell again, he was just shut out of Tony's life, as if Tony never cared about him in the first place. He backed up to the stairs and sat down, the room began to spin. Steve was gone, Tony shut him out, there is no more wedding, everything is falling apart.  He laid back on the steps and closed his eyes, he was just trying to get his head around everything. 

"Let's start a new suit." Tony said to himself as he began to work, forgetting Loki was even there. He continued to work on the suit. Loki laid there on the steps then he saw something, he saw himself before Tony came to save him, he saw Odin standing with a knife. Loki was chained, blood dripping down his arms, puddles of blood on the ground. 

"You're nothing more than a monster. Remember that. Always." Odin laughed. 

"A monster.." Loki mumbled, the gruesome things Odin did to him, to the man he once called his son. Loki prayed for Tony to rescue him, for this nightmare to be over. 

Tony was working on his suit when he glanced over at the steps, Loki was laying there motionless. "Loki..?" Tony asked and walked over to the glass, Loki was still off in his nightmare. Tony watched as Loki jerked his body every few seconds. He stood and imagined what could be going through his mind, he caused this. He shut Loki out, it's not his fault that Steve passed away. It's not his fault at all, but he was here to take all of the hits, to be shut out because Tony wouldn't open up and talk to him. 

"Monster..." Loki mumbled. Tony un-muted everything so he could now hear. "I am a monster... I admit it Odin. I am a monster... Please stop." He continued. Tony's eyes began to water. "My.. birthright.. was to die.." He mumbled. Tony opened the door and went over to him quickly.

"Wake up. Wake up Loki." Tony shook him, when Loki wouldn't respond he would shake him harder. "C'mon Loki don't be like this." Tony said and continued to shake him. Loki eventually woke up with a cold sweat. 

"W-what happened?" He asked.

"You had a nightmare. But it's okay because I'm here.. I'm here and I'm never going to leave you." Tony said and hugged Loki as tight as he could. "I promise I will never shut you out again." 

"O-Okay.." Loki was confused, he didn't remember what happened. All he remembers is laying down and then waking up to Tony shaking him. 

"Do you think you can get up and go to the bedroom?" Tony asked, Loki nodded and slowly stood up. Tony wrapped his arm around him and helped him up the stairs and to the room. "Okay let's lay down.." Tony said as he helped Loki lay down and then laid next to him. 

"Tony?" Loki asked.

"Yes?"

"Am I going to be okay?" Loki asked and looked up at him. Now he is the one needed the help.

"Yes sweetie, you're going to be okay." Tony said and kissed his cheek. "You're going to be okay.."
