"How's he doing?" Natasha asked as she walked up beside Tony.
"He's stable... he should wake up in a little bit," Tony said. "He is taking the new tech very well. He shouldn't even notice what we've done." He pinched the bridge of his nose and sighed.
"Tony... You had to do what you had to do. Loki wouldn't have made it if you didn't put that reactor in." Natasha said as she rubbed Tony's back.
"He won't ever be the same, Natasha." Tony's voice was low. There was no other way to save him unless he put a reactor into Loki's chest. He knew it was wrong but that would have been it. Loki would have died, but that reactor is saving him. Forcing his heart to keep beating. "Maybe I should have just let him die. Maybe that is all he should have done. Maybe it was time..."
"Tony... you saved him. He will regain his strength and who knows, maybe he can take it out later on in life." She said. "But you will have to tell him." She added.
"Not yet. I know I will have to but... I can't yet." Tony said. The bandages covered his chest and made it look like nothing was there. "He shouldn't feel it. I fixed it to where he shouldn't be able to tell. For now, the bandages will stay on and we will continue life as if he is normal."
"Alright." She said. "It'll be okay." Natasha patted Tony's back before she walked out.
"Loki... I know you can't hear me but I just wanted to let you know I'm sorry... Maybe I shouldn't have saved you. I just couldn't help myself. Seeing you there lifeless... I had to do something. I will tell you. I promise I will tell you, but for now, you can't know." He said as he sat down in the chair next to the bed.
"Tony...?" Loki's voice was weak. It had been a couple hours since Natasha left and Tony was asleep in the chair. "Tony..." Loki looked at him and tears welled in his eyes. He was alive, how? He doesn't know. But at this point, it really doesn't matter how. "Babe...?" Loki said.
"Mmm," Tony groaned. As soon as he realized who was talking his eyes shot open. "Loki!" Tony stood up and looked at him. "How are you feeling...?" He asked.
"I've been better. But... how am I alive?" He asked.
"The doctors... they brought you back. You're okay. They said you should be able to go home later if you want." Tony said. Loki nodded in response. "I love you..."
"I-I love you too... I'm sorry. I will never do that again. I promise." Loki said.
...A couple hours later...
"Ready babe?" Tony asked. Loki grabbed Tony's hand and looked at him.
"Yeah." Loki smiled. They walked out of the hospital and went to Tony's car. As they got in Tony thought at some point Loki would feel the reactor. He would feel a new hunk of metal that's sitting on his chest.
"You feeling okay?" Tony asked.
"Yeah," Loki said. He was acting perfectly normal which is what made Tony curious as if he was lying or not. "Hey, when do you think I can take these bandages off?"
"I don't know yet. You'll have to leave them on for a little bit." Tony said. He was starting to get nervous. Maybe this wasn't a good idea...
"That's fine. Thank you." Loki smiled.
"Yep. No problem." Tony said as they pulled into the driveway. As they got out Tony helped Loki and made sure he wasn't in a position where he would know.
...A couple weeks later...
"Why are you helping me so much...?" Loki asked.
"What do you mean? I'm trying to be nice. I don't want you to hurt yourself." Tony said.
"I just don't understand. Everything I can do myself you step in and do. It's odd." Loki said. "You are always there."
"It's because I don't want to lose you..." Tony said. He wasn't lying when he said that but at the same time, he wasn't telling the full truth.
"Well thank you.. hey can you get me a bowl of cereal?" Loki asked.
"Sure." Tony got up and went into the kitchen.
"Thank god." Loki got up and shut the bedroom door and locked it. He went into the bathroom and took off his shirt. "Now I can get a shower in peace." He turned on the water and looked at himself in the mirror. The bandages were still wrapped around his chest. "These can't get wet..." Loki said. He slowly began to unwrap his chest. There were so many layers but... why? "What the hell."
"Loki?!" Tony yelled as he banged on the door. "Babe open the door!!"
"I'm taking a show-" Loki stopped. The reactor became visible. The bright blue light came from his chest. He began to feel dizzy.
"Loki...?" Tony asked. He waited a minute before asking again. "Loki?!"
"N-No..." Loki stepped back. He looked down at his chest and screamed.
"LOKI!!!" Tony yelled. He was trying to open the door but nothing was working.
"N-no... This isn't me... this isn't real... th-this..." Loki dropped to his knees and began to cry. He wasn't himself anymore. He was now just a piece of tech.
