Chapter 18: Meet Me

I woke up this time and it was morning.
Max was gone. He wasn't there anymore. I sat up on the couch and I texted him but he never replied.
I rubbed my eye, full on confused.
"Mom?.." I walked downstairs but she wasn't there.
I looked around the house and there was no sign of her. 'She probably went to work..' I sat back down, covering my eyes.
Max walked back inside of the house with a bag of snacks.
"Oh! Good morning!" He smiles.
"Tom said hi by the way, he is the one who gave me these snacks.."
I remembered my dream. Remembering the figures words. I felt a sudden feeling of paranoia kick in.
"A-Are they poisoned?.." I took a step back.
"No..Stephanie are you okay?.." he put the bag down and he got closer.
I quickly stepped back again.
"W-Where is my mom..What did you do with her?" The figures words were playing in my head like a looping tape player.
The flashbacks returning except this one was out of the blue.

"You fucking skank" the figures voice came back.
I felt like passing out. The room got darker and I collapsed. I didn't fall on the floor because Max saved me from falling and hurting myself.
"Stephanie?! D-Did something happen?!" He asked worriedly.
I regained my consciousness, looking up at him.
"G-Get away from me!!" I pushed him away.
"Stephanie?! What's the matter!? I did nothing wrong!!" He looked upset.
"L-Leave me alone.." I fell onto my knees.
He got on his and he hugged me.
Then good flashbacks appeared.

all those funny moments when Max and I were together came back to me.
I hugged him back crying.
"I am sorry.." I glide my fingers through his hair.
He cried for the first time in forever.
Max Oggler.

Him and I sat down in the living room.
I told him everything.
I trusted him with my life.
"A figure?.." he sat in front of me.
"Yes, it had a hoodie on, the hood over its head.. it told me that I am killing the ones I love.." I looked down.
"You saw the figure when Leafy died.. and when Destiny died?.." Max asked.
"Yeah, and when Alex was in my room too.." I looked down.

"Huh, weird.." he crossed his arms.
I nodded.
"That's why I want to put the puzzle pieces together" I looked at Max before continuing.
"would you like to help me?" I asked desperately.
"Yeah, of course.." he looked interested.

We sat inside of the cabin behind my house.
As I explained everything to him. He came clear and we had found a conclusion.
Max crossed his arms and spoke.
"So you are saying, Alex lied to you, Leafy was in all of this all along, she tried to help drug you, Diamond is whoever is behind this's helper, Tom is somewhat with Leafy because he didn't call the police when you were hurt, your mom and dad are both being threatened and your mom is being forced to hurt you, and that the figure is after me?.." he sighed.
"Yes, that's exactly what" I nodded.
"Damn, that's fucked up.." he looked stressed.
"Don't worry, we'll get through it. We are best friends for a reason" I placed my hand on his and he pulled it away. A blush spread across his face.
"H-Hey! D-Did you just touch my hand?!" He was shook.
"Calm down! You act so childish, it's just normal contacting.." I laughed.

Max and I were talking almost the whole day and then this had happened..

PIIING PIIING

I Looked down at my phone to find a text by an unknown person saying "Meet me in the forest that you and Alexander were in, your parents lives depend on it. 8:00 tonight"
My heart sank.
Whoever that was
Is probably heading to the location now
Ready to get rid of what couldn't disappear in the beginning.
