Jason Daniels: How are you today, Maya?/ 2:28 P.M.
I nearly gagged picking up my phone. There was no way I was attracted to Mr. Daniels. The age gap was sickening enough as it is.I bit my inner cheek. It's for my grade.
Maya Perales: I'm fine, and you?/ 2:39 P.M.
Jason Daniels: I'm well./ 2:40 P.M.
I'm very bored./ 2:41 P.M."Ew!" I nearly choked on my drink. It's for my grade, it's for my grade. My little pep talk had me prepared. A little thought in my head had me nearly running to the bathroom to vomit. I couldn't believe what I was about to type in.
Maya Perales: Me too, care to compensate? ;)/ 2:56 P.M
Compensate was our secret word for something.
"Im ready to work!" Santiago's booming voice nearly sent my phone flying out of my hands. My heart was racing so fast that it felt like it was about to burst.
"Ahh!" I screamed like a manic. I quickly shut my phone off and out it in my pocket.
"What are you hiding?" He raised his eyebrows three times really fast.
I turned my head away. "None of your business that's what."
"Are you here by yourself?" He looked around my living room. "I didn't see your mother's car outside."
My stomach churned as I remembered the phone call I had with my mother. "Didn't you hear the news?"
He put his hands on his hips. "What happened?"
"She was arrested."
He looked around the room then back at me. "You're welcome to come live with me if you'd like." He made a tsk sound, "I can't imagine how lonely you're feeling."
I was lonely but was it worth giving up the small remnants of my lavish life just to have some company?
"I'm perfectly fine here."
