After spending fifteen minutes in the middle of the road calming down in Dean's arms, I was ushered back into the impala. Dean turned the car around and headed back into town. The car ride was silent as we pulled into Bills Burger Place's drive through window and ordered a couple burgers, fries and a milkshake. We also stopped off at a gas station to get a case of beer before driving back to the open road.

Sitting on the hood of the impala we ate silently under the stars. Taking a bite of my double bacon cheeseburger I sighed. The sky was waking up in a gentle blaze of blues and purples, the stars winking goodbye as a sign that the sun was coming up.

"Can I ask you something." Dean said, wiping burger sauce from the side of his mouth with three fries and shoving them in his mouth. I nodded.

"Why did you react that way to Jody?" I shook my head, sadness rushing back to me so strongly that my eyes teared up.

"Because... I used to think that she was dead. It was just easier for me to handle the fact that my biological mother didn't want me. So I came up with an elaborate backstory of how she truly loved her daughter, but had no choice but to give her up. Me up." I said, my shoulders shrugging half heartedly. "It's twisted but when I saw her alive and well... I remembered her telling me that she had two girls and I just... flipped. I wasn't good enough for her so she gave me away." When I finished I looked up to see Dean staring at me, nodding slowly to himself.

"Alex and Claire. They're her... unofficial official adopted kids. Alex was being used by vampires and Claire lost her parents and was going to be put back into the system. She gave them a home because they were going to be all alone, vulnerable and were possible still in danger... I mean if you ask me, it sounds like she's trying to make up for past mistakes." He said, taking a swig of beer. I sloshed around my thick chocolate milkshake and sipped at it generously. What was the off chance that she would adopt two girls? I smiled slightly.

"I know better now. It's been over two decades and I've seen tv shows and read books. I get it. She didn't have a choice but everything that I thought I had gotten over just came flooding back, and I got... so angry." I shook my head, remembering my harsh words. Nibbling at some fries I turned to him suddenly.

"I have to talk to her. I have to apologise and fix this - I don't want to push her away!"

"Relax. Sammy texted me and she's a little shaken up, just like you were but he told her to give you time. He's at our motel back in oak, we can meet up with them later." I nodded more to myself, taking cheese from my burger and sucking it off my finger.

"What did you do once you realised you were pregnant?" He asked in a quiet voice. Looking over I saw that he had stopped eating, and had his body turned toward me. I cleared my thought at the intensity of his gaze, thinking back to that morning.

"Well... that was one of my worst days in a week of hell." I said bluntly.
