Kai huffed as she swung her sword. The thick wooden post cracked and splintered on impact. She pulled the long blade from the unlucky victim and wiped her forehead.
She attacked again.
Karai will probably find out I ran away from them.
Kai attacked again.
I can't go back now.
Kai swung again, harder.
I can never go back.
Kai hit the post increasing her force until the weapon sliced through the coarse wood. The top flung off and fell to the cement floor, breaking in two. Kai stared at it panting. Her expression emotionless. She fell to her knees as sweat dripped from her face. Kai pulled a cloth from her pocket and wiped the beads from her fur. As her panting began cease, a sob suddenly escaped from her mouth, causing uneven breaths. After a few minutes Kai stood and wiped the tears as well. She slid the sword back into its sheath and walked to the kitchen. Kai mindlessly washed the dishes, her focus elsewhere.
Karai stood watching her in silence.
"I thought I was alone." Karai said staring at Kai.
"I thought I was the only one that had to face Shredder. Fight the illusions he created." Karai watched as Kai set the plate she was washing down and turned to face her. Kai's eyes welled up with tears.
"Kai...that man is a monster...I had no idea he was doing this to you and your family. He never told me anything.  If I would've know I would have stopped him." Kai rushed at Karai. She wrapped her arms around her in a hug. Karai hugged back.
"I'm so sorry Kai." Karai whispered.
"You didn't know...you didn't know Karai...it's okay." Kai cried. The girls held onto each other in a hug for a wile.
"So they told you." Kai finally said as they pulled away.
"Yeah. Leo's been looking for you."
Kai cringed.
"Are they okay?" She asked worriedly.
"I dunno." Karai responded.
"I can't go back. After doing this. They will never forgive me for running away."
"Kai, they miss you. Leo wanted me to look for you." Karai stated.
"Did you tell them I was here?" Kai asked.
"I had to. They seemed so stressed."
Kai looked down at the floor.
"Are you mad at me for lying to you?" Kai mumbled.
"No not at all."
Kai slowly nodded and walked to her own room.
