Chapter 10

It started to get really quiet and awkward in the truck so I decided to talk to Jason a bit.

"So Jason why did you come with us so willingly?"

He chuckled and said, "I was not about to disobey someone who took down a three hundred pound man multiple times."

"Ah don't worry I wouldn't have hurt you or killed him. I save children remember. I wouldn't hurt them or endanger them."

"You took down a three hundred pound man?" Jay asked in surprise.

"Ya, and it was easy as all hell. He was too stupid and slow to even land a punch on me once."

"This chick is amazing. I mean she was just swiftly dodging everything he threw at her and she didn't even have her hands out of her front pocket of her hoodie. This chick is awesome. Hey, do you think I could learn to be like that too?" I laughed and so did Jay.

"You would need a shit ton of training kid but ya I think so. Just remember I have been taking lessons on like everything since I was your age. But also you have to be smarter than the enemy. Not just stronger or faster."

"Yeah...I wanna join the organization that you guys are in. If a badass chick like you can take down that man with strength, speed and her smarts then I want to learn too. After all, you did save me from possible death. I wanna save others from that too." I smiled knowing I had created another recruit.

"Remember though Jason. With this job comes risk and danger. But also the joy that comes from saving children. I joined when I was saved by a woman after I was kidnapped. She came in and acted like a super hero. I wanted to be like her too. But not all missions go as smoothly as today's. Sometimes they go bad and you can't save anyone except yourself. And not even always yourself. But like I said with this kind of job comes risk and danger." I knew what mission Jay spoke about. I knew it all too well.

"I joined the organization the same day as Jay. That was the day I was saved from my horrible parents. They abused me and more. What they did to me didn't scar me. I was too strong to let them. For years I had planned on leaving but I never could. When I was thirteen I finally got away from them. I joined the organization that day. I met Jay that day. I became partners with Jay too and got my first mission. I have saved many children since then too. Some of them write to me and send me Christmas cards. It's a really good feeling when you save a kid. But like Jay said it doesn't always happen. I've had a child or two that I've lost because I didn't get there fast enough or they were already in a new place before I got there. There are also missions that will break you until you are nothing. Those are the ones that will make you want to quit but then you remember why you were saved and that someone else risked their lives to save you and it makes you want to do the same. But don't worry. With the right partner and everything, things seem to go smoother than they would if you went alone."

"I wanna take the risk and risk my life and endanger myself to save someone else's. Someone who deserves to be saved. Someone who really needs it. I want to be like the women that saved Jay. A hero. I want to be like you Lynnlee. Your amazing and I like that. So I want to do what you do too." I smiled as we pulled into the organization.

"Good because we are here." Even in the dark of the truck, I could see a huge smile on his face and it looked like he was really happy.
