It was dinner as usual until Emmette questioned why mom was home so late. The response that came next was one that would turn our appetites and fill the rest of our evening with deep sorrow and wonder mixed with drenched up memories that I wish would stay buried......
The words being uttered from mom's lips flowed smoothly,like honey flowing from the comb. They were words that barely seemed to phase her. I guess it's because this is what she deals with daily.
DEATH
Mom's reply was concise and to the point. No lingering on details nor specifics
"I was at the office late because I had to do a little grief counselling to two teenagers who witnessed the tragic death of their grandmother at the bank on Saturday."
Oh wow.... I didn't expect this. Thought it would have been the usual inmate loosing their cool and she trying to calm them and help sort through their issues or something, not this.
It was evident that she wished not to elaborate but Emmette was quite oblivious to this fact and pressed on.
" So who was it, who got shot?"
" Did you catch the killer?" he questioned, his interest now peaked due to the involvement of law and order, or more accurately forensic anlaysis.
He's all about digging in and finding clues about whatever has happened and he has shown a rather unavoidable interest in this area as can be observed from his obsession with NCIS,CRIMINAL MINDS,CHICAGO P.D...
