Those four words written on the screen were all I needed to keep my head straight and keep my course to the bus stop, no delay.
" Jay, are you ok?"

The bus drove slowly, as if to deliberately make my mind linger on this place. After about a two minutes drive, I passed the Ice- cream shop that was previously occupied by my friends now almost empty, only an elderly couple sitting on one of the benches outside wrapped in each others arms, weathering the cold and windy night together.
.
.
I'm finally at my street. I get off the bus and begin my journey to my house.
As I walked, I looked in through the windows of the lit houses to see families going about their evening in whatever manner they please.
But these views, the passing trees or stray cats, meowing in the dark weren't enough of a distraction to keep my mind off the issue at hand
What were Demitri and Holland hiding?.......
I mount the steps to my house and take out my keys.. Phone in hand I pushed the door open to reveal a worried mother looking me dead in the eye.
Expectantly she sat there... An explanation was needed I presume. Unfortunately I didn't have one to give
It was almost 11 and Demitri had called saying I left the shop before them, which begs to question... How did I get home this late?
That was a question I didn't have an answer for.
Well, not quite.
That was a question I wasn't willing to give the answer to...
I quickly thought of a lie to dodge the inevitable questioning that was ahead.
"I left the Ice- Cream shop and went to get a bus because I wasn't feeling well" I told her
" And..." She pressed, not looking too convinced
"Well, Demitri was otherwise occupied to take me home so I left and it took me a while to get a bus and then all the stops took up the time" I continued
"Next time, you call" she pleaded, a feeling of uncertainty still evident in her eyes but there was also something else there. That uncontrollable sleepy look which made her go against her better judgement and she leaves the questions there.
I find my way up the stairs and soon enough my shower.
I stand there for what seems like hours with the intention of washing that thought away, if it were possible.
I walk into my room, towel hanging loosely from my hips with my hair slightly dripping and take up my phone to see 3 missed calls. Two from Demitri and the other Holland. I cleared the screen and place the phone on my bed. I grab another towel and dry my hair and bring them back to the bathroom.
I get dressed and turn in
Day breaks and my mood hasn't changed
It's one of utter disbelief and uncertainty
I complete the usual routine and make my way out the door.
What I saw next was quite unexpected but made it a lot easier for me
"We need to talk" Demitri calmly said as he eased from the hood of his car where he once leaned, my skateboard in hand.
