The chief quieted everyone down with a bang of his spear to the ground. The fire died down instantly. Chills crept up my back. The chief stood." We are here tonight to discuss the fate of Akela. Strange things have happened ever since she has arrived at Ulu. What might happen if she stays in the village longer? Someone might get hurt! If something bad is going to happen it is going to happen because of that sorceress Akela! She uses her magic to make the night last longer and fire to appear! She uses her magic to create blood in the waves! Someday she is going to hurt someone and as chief I can't afford her injuring somebody! So I say we should banish her to the jungle! Who's with me!" He shouts. Lots of people cheer with his statement. I'm trembling in fear for what they might do to me. What's in the jungle? Not like I really want to know. All of a sudden I hear a familiar voice speak. "NOOOO!" Caspian yells. " No what, Caspian!" Screeches the chief. "You can't do this to her! How do you even know that it's her? How do you know she is not freaked out by the things that are going on?" " I know because I'm the chief" "HOW DO YOU KNOW!" Caspian lets out a blood curdling screech. Jeez I didn't know Caspian could get that loud. I crawl a little closer in the cover of the trees to get closer to them. " I know because I asked an elder!" The chief yells. "Which one?" " Her grandmother". My heart fell. Grandma? How could she do this. Tears stream from my eyes, making them sting. I wipe them away. The whole village is dead quiet. I see Caspian trying to stand his ground but failing. He hangs his head in shame and walks back to where he was sitting. He starts to cry. Why would the chief do this? I thought. He will pay for this. As Caspian quiets the chief continues. "As I was saying before I was so rudely interrupted by Caspian, she will be sentenced to banishment to the jungle-" " Excuse me chief but you forgot something" my grandma said. "If she manages to get out alive she will have proved herself worthy to become chief" she announced. " well it's a slim chance anyway so I didn't feel like mentioning it" the chief spoke. "Well anyways, she will go first thing in two days time. She gets zero tools and we may be making adjustments to how many people are going in..." he trails off. "Anyways meeting dismissed and go home quickly and quietly..." I start sprinting home getting ahead of everyone else. I get home close the door. I get in my bed and turn out the lamp I have. I turn to the wall. I hear grandma walk in through the door. The floorboards of the house creek as she walks to my room she peaks in. I freeze in my position. After 3 long minutes she closes the door and walks to her room. I sigh. I attempt to fall asleep but with all the things running through my head; Caspian, grandma, the village and the chief I can't fall asleep, I just stare at the wall and wait for the sun to rise.
