Everything had gone by so fast. My whole life was a strange roller-coaster that never seemed to end. If it wasn't vampires, then it was witches. If it wasn't dragons, then it was grim reapers. The supernatural never rested. I never rested. Until now, that I laid so still and lifeless on the sand. This was the moment where I found peace for once. My eyes were closed and I didn't worry about anything. Only that I kept my lungs going.

I could hear cries. It was as clear as glass, that pain was in the air. The voices were alien to me. Could be Adam who was speaking to me, or it could have been Kim. Either way it didn't look good for me. My heart was beating against my chest, reassuring me that I was still alive and fighting. I wish they knew that I was going to be okay. Or at least I hoped so.

Thunder sounded loudly. Rain dropped heavily on my face. I couldn't tell the difference between the dragon's mighty roar or the thunder. But I was certain that I had the blood and we succeeded. Now it was only a matter of time till I healed.

"Why isn't he healing?" I heard Kim ask.

"Vampires can't heal from a dragon's attack. It takes time," Adam answered.

"What? And you couldn't mention that before?"

My body was lifted by a pair of hands that I only guessed as Adam's. They were strong and firm, careful and loving. His touch to me was already helping my healing process. Each cell that regenerated hurt but he made it worth the pain. I just wanted to see him again. To open my eyes and look into his electric blue eyes. I wanted for him to tell me that I was going to survive this. That we all were.

Soon, the rain stopped pouring on my face and I felt the cold air of a conditioner. We were inside the house. Then I heard footsteps as I was carried up the stairs and dropped gently on a bed. I felt the other side of the bed sink as Adam sat next to me.

"So what do we do now? Can't we feed him blood?" Kim suggested.

"Vampire blood won't work. Maybe the dragon blood will but we need to save that."

"We can't just stand here and wait for him to heal. Look at him. He's completely destroyed. We need to do something."

"No. I know he will be fine. We just need to give him time."

"And how is it that the dragon breathed fire? I thought it couldn't."

"We were wrong," Adam said. "They must all breathe fire."

"Especially the next one," she muttered. "Definitely the next one."

Adam's Point Of View . . .

The lights flickered on and off until the power went off completely. Kim and I looked at each other as the storm roared louder. My eyes wondered back to Jasper, who laid still without much motion of his chest. His heart rate was low, his heart beat was almost unnoticeable. It pained me to see him in this state. I should've been there to protect him. It was my job to watch over him and I failed. Such a simple task. But I failed.

His face was paler if it was possible. There were burnt marks all over his body and they weren't healing. The scent of his blood was driving me crazy. It smelled human and magic. I couldn't drink his blood anymore after he was turned into a vampire, but the mere smell of it still gave me the urges to drink it. How long had it been since I last had any? Very long. I was weak.
