"It's honestly good to see you, Adam, it's been so long. I've actually been trying to contact you for a while now, since I don't have any other source for help," she spoke in the same accent Adam did. Could they both have been friends even when they were humans?

"Yeah, I got rid of any contact form so that I wouldn't be tracked down," he answered.

It was true, I never saw a phone in his house. Well, maybe an old one that I was sure it didn't work. He's old fashioned, very old fashioned. He's still stuck in two hundred years ago. I wonder how it was back then. How far we have changed.

"Please, come in." she gestured her hands, stepping aside to let us in. "And who is this handsome devil?"

"Melody, this is Jasper, my lover."

Lover. I cringed at the word. I never liked being called that.

"Oh." she looked surprised. "You've turned to men?"

"So can we stay here for a while?" He completely ignored her question.

She smiled. "Of course. But you have to help me in return."

He nodded. "What do you need help with?"

She sighed, turning and walking away. We followed her into the living room, it was so beautiful that I couldn't believe my eyes. It was so bright and white that it made me think I was in heaven. I stared out through the glass wall and watched the ocean. It must cost a fortune to have built this house, especially on where it was built.

Now I knew why Adam wanted to stay here. It was right next to the ocean, where we would be hit with the hurricane and meet the dragon.

"Remember the witches a hundred and fifty years ago?" she asked, sitting on the white squared sofa.

Adam stood still, almost frozen from shock. I poked his side when I began to worry and he immediately brought up his hand and touched his necklace.

"Yes, exactly," she answered, as if she read his mind. Could vampires read each others minds?

"I thought they were dead," he growled.

"So did I, but apparently they aren't."

"What's going on?" I dared to ask. I didn't really want to interrupt the vampires, but I was mad curious and I felt left out.

Adam turned to me and looked me in the eyes. "A hundred and fifty years ago, a group of witches tried to destroy all of our protection accessories by breaking all the spells that were locked on them. They could do it from anywhere in the world, which made it difficult to find them. Now I'm sure that they will try again."

"Then just make another witch do the spell again?" I suggested.

"No, they want to break the spell that creates the protection. Permanently. So that no other witch can do it again because it won't work."

I touched my own necklace. I've never felt the burn of the sun, so I don't know how scary that sounds. Only a few vampires know about the protection spell, and those who know are important vampires. The rest of the species don't know about it. If they did then I'm sure there would be chaos.
