Bella's POV

I rubbed the moss again on my body to try eliminate as much of my smell as I can. It had been almost four hours and still there was no sign of Jacob behind me, or a town in front of me. It had started snowing again for the fourth time and I was shivering to my bones, but still I moved forward, taking one step at a time.

Once and twice I also fell and scratched my elbows and knees, but the thought of Edward, always impeled me to stand up and just keep on going, luckily I didn't find any bear or even a sign or presence of a bear nearby, which was good for me to be alive.

The sun had started coming down and I had to reach somewhere and fast. I tried walking in every direction east, west, north, south, but nowhere seemed familiar or marked human inhabitance and that was really worrying me, because if I didn't reach anywhere before it turns dark, I would be in deep trouble from not only the hungry bears, but also the killing cold and creepy insects.

I drank a bit water from the bottle and ate a bit of the candy but still nothing satisfied the weakness that was building inside me. I tried checking my temperature and sure as hell, I had a flaring fever building up in my body.

I cursed loudly and proceeded forward, faster and faster " Come on Bella, it is not that far." I motivated my self " Remember Edward, no bear, or fever, or cold could stop you from being with Edward" I took a deep breath and ran.

**************************

Running was really a bad idea because after about half a mile I fell on my knees and my stomach ached. My lungs burned badly and I tried to take as much oxygen I can. Taking a break for a minute, I drank water and took deep breaths. The sky was almost black now and still there was no sign of civilization.

My whole body hurt and my legs felt as if they were on fire. I knew I could not move anymore and had to stay here for the night.

The trees all aroud me were too tall to climb so I searched for a low lying branch to sit on, atleast it was better than lying on the ground and be like an appetizer to some bear.

Finally I found one tree, the strongest branches were too high but a few were low enough for me to jump on.

"Let's do it." I encouraged myself and thrusted my body on the branch. Thankfully it did not break and I held to it with my hands.

I tried to pull myself up, applying pressure on the branch with my hands and slowly reached high enough to lock my legs on the branch and jumped on it.

"Oof" it was almost seven feet above the ground. I rested my back in the trunk and made myself as comfortable as possible.

I tried to check the back of my head for blood, surely this long journey must have had some affect on it, abump was still somewhere which was slowly starting to settle but otherwise no blood.

I opened my bag to find some energy bar and peanuts so I munched on them slowly feeling each and every piece in my mouth. This technique helped me in ignoring the immense cramping and pain settling all over my body once again.

Once I was full enough to actually think straight the only person in my mind was Edward. Oh how much I missed him.

How much I wish he was hear, holding on to me, murmuring his sweet nothings in my ears. Soon sleep overtook my train of thoughts and the last thing I remember mumbling was " Good night, Edward."
