Edward's POV

I was too slow, she had already hit the ground, with that ear shattering thud. She drifted swifty towards unconsciousness, my name still on her lips.

The world had slowed down when I saw her, and again picked up pace after she fell. I lunged on the bears throwing them of one by one, without breaking a sweat. In mere seconds I was close enough to her body just one more to go.

It was over, and Bella would be in my arms just in a few seconds, the blood running in her veins, the smell of her body and everything else about her was making me want to pick her up and kiss her and hug her and caress her until eternity. Before I could step any further, Jacob ran into the bear and stood between me and Bella as a sheild of fur and flesh.

"Jacob, GET OUT OF MY WAY. You are going to be dead in a few minutes already." I warned him "So it would be better for you to move now and live for another few minutes until I come for you."

She is mine Edward, you, a blood sucking parasite are not even coming close to her. She never wanted you, you trapped her in your lie of a love. Just leave her alone, I will take care of her much better then you ever could.

All these words were very clear in that dogs mind. He said each word like the ultimate truth. But they did not sway me at all, because everyday since I met her, I always saw pure love in her eyes for me. She may have made the wrong choice by loving me but she did love me and that was the truth, she was mine and I was hers by body and soul.

Thinking this my body for the last time filled with the ultimate passion and love for the girl lying in the corner and I launched on Jacob.

He wasn't fast enough for me and I threw him far away, his snout banged into a tree and didn't move. Looking around once for no possible threat, I immediately ran to Bella.

I lifted her head slowly of the ground it was dripping with blood. It distracted me, that scent was too strong for me I could not resist it, I tried as hard as I could to avoid my thirst just for a while so that others could come for help.

But alas, I lost control over my fangs, they came out on their own, bringing me closer to her neck. The sweet smell of her blood drifted me to paranoia, I only thought about the way that blood would feel as it would rush down my throat.

NO, I thought to myself and with a little speck of sanity left in the monstrous mind of mine, I picked her up slowly, not to tear her apart but to sooth her, because at last it was my Bella. Pure, sacred, so beautiful even with blood streaming down. I rushed as fast as possible, as further as possible. As I lifted her from the ground I could already see the pool of blood that had been formed around her. Her body was bleeding at an alarming rate.

I ran, like I had never run before, because the reason for my existence was so close to ceasing to exist and I could not in a billion years afford that. I saw Jacob, he once again was ready to pounce at me, but that pool of blood also made his paws retreat, because first Bella needed Carlisle, and I knew where he was.

The last thing I heard from that mutt was, I will come again, soon.
