36. Bothersome

I watched closely as the girl hurriedly walk to our direction. Shaira and I looked at each other. Maybe the same question is running in our head.

Hindi lang ako yung nagulat ng biglang niyakap ng babae si Blake. Even Shaira, Justin, and Blake himself had the same reaction. I restrained myself in pulling Blake away from her. Ang bastos naman yata nun, lalo pa at mukhang magkakilala sila nina Justin.

After a while, she pulled herself away from Blake. Her face painted with an innocent smile, she looked at Justin. "Don't you guys missed me? I missed you both."

I saw Shaira secretly rolling her eyes. Bakit ang inosente ng ngiti niya pero naiinis ako sa sinasabi niya?

It took a while before Justin spoke. "V-Venice?"

The girl's smile widened. "Yes, it's me Kris. How are you?"

So, her name's Venice. And she calls Justin by his second name, huh? They must be really close.

"What are you doing here, Venice?" Blake sternly asked. I was surprised at the tone he used. Does he have some grudge against this girl?

"What do you mean, Blake?" Venice's brows furrowed, hindi nagustuhan ang tonong ginamit ni Blake. But she managed to change her expression and smiled sweetly. "I'm back. I'm really back, for good."

Before any of us can answer, she waved at us. "Goodbye, Blake. Goodbye, Kris. See you around. I know we'll see each other more often from now on." She winked at the guys, flipped her hair, at agad ng tumalikod. The nerve of this girl. She didn't even looked at Shaira and me. We must acknowledge someone's presence for the sake of having manners right?

"How dare her! Sino siya para hindi pansinin ang ganda kong lagi ay agaw-pansin? Hindi ba yun namamansin ng mas maganda sa kanya? Insecure ba siya sa akin kaya ganun?" Shaira ranted after Venice was gone.

Napangiti si Blake at Justin sa mga pinagsasabi ni Shaira. However, I can't manage to smile. The thoughts I had earlier still troubles me.

We contined walking papasok ng mall. I was itching to have a serious talk with Blake. I wanted to ask him everything about that girl, about Venice.

While waiting for our orders, I started asking Blake. "Blake, who is Venice?"

I was expecting Blake would be uneasy just like earlier, but he didn't. Instead, he answered me in a calm tone. "She is Janine's childhood bestfriend."

I was surprised at what he told us. Si Venice, bestfriend ni Janine? How could it be when Venice is a mannerless brat while Janine is such a sweet girl?

"Janine? Your cousin, right? That's impossible!" Shaira muttered.

"Yeah, she is." Justin answered. "But 2 years ago, their family moved to Manila. We're surprised she's here."

"Let's not talk about her. Let's just eat." Blake cut off the conversation when our orders arrived. We ate and changed the topic in the middle of the meal.

"Stop it, Shy." I said and glared at Shaira. Ang kulit talaga ng lahi ng babaeng 'to.

"Hope, sige na please? Please? Maaga pa naman. We still have 15 minutes pa naman." She said while batting her eyelashes.

"Okay, fine. Let's go." Sumusukong sabi ko. Shaira can be so persuasive at times. Kinukulit niya akong pumunta muna sa canteen upang bumili ng snacks.

Today, our second semester officially starts. This sem, magkaklase na kaming apat in most of our subjects.

The whole semestral break, nasa bahay lang ako. Catch-up marathon sa mga K-dramang hindi ko napanuod during the first semester. During those whole two weeks, I finished 6 dramas.

Palagi naman kaming nagti-text at nagtatawagan ni Blake nung sembreak. Shaira also chats and calls me occasionally. Despite that, na-miss ko parin silang lahat, especially Blake.

After buying what we want, bumalik na kami sa classroom. I'm excited to see Blake, and also Justin. Shaira and I were both smiling when we entered the room.

Our smile faded when we saw Venice standing in front of Justin and Blake. Not just standing, but smiling like a flirt in front of my boyfriend.

"My radar says there's a bitch nearby. So, be careful." Shaira whispered habang papalapit kami sa pwesto nina Blake.

Unang lumingon si Blake ng maramdaman ang presensiya namin ni Shaira. He suddenly got up and marched towards me. I was glued on my position when he hugged me.

"I miss you, baby." He whispered. I scanned the room. Maliban sa aming apat, and as much as I hate to acknowledge her presence, kay Venice, at sa babaeng classmate namin dati, wala pa namang tao sa room. I hope this is not considered as PDA. I hugged him back and whispered, "I miss you too."

"Na-miss ki-" Shaira said, but was cut off when Justin gave her a peck in the lips. Napangiti ako ng mamula ng bonggang-bongga si Shaira.

"So, girlfriends niyo pala sila? Sila yung kasama niyo sa mall last time, right?" My smile faded when Venice spoke. So, she noticed us back there, huh? Akala ko naging invisible kami ni Shaira that time.

"Glad you know." Simple ngunit maanghang na sabi ni Shaira.

"This is Shaira, my girlfriend. Babe, this is Venice." Justin said.

"This is Hope, my baby. Baby, this is Venice." There is one thing that bothers me. Bakit walang label nung ipinakilala nila si Venice. I shrugged the thought lalo na at nagsimula ng magsidatingan ang mga kakaklase namin.

Our professor came, at panandaliang nagpakilala. But what she said before leaving made our classmates cheer in excitement.

"Next week, we will have an outdoor activity. We will go to a beach. We will stay there for two days and one night. I will leave this parent's consent. Get one and let your parents sign that. No consent, no trip for you. Goodbye class."

Sabay-sabay kaming kumuha ng waiver at lumabas. I'm sure papayagan ako ni Mama.

Nang nasa hallway na kami, nakasalubong namin si Janine. She waved at us and I smiled at her.

"B, Justin, magkaklase kayong apat? Andaya! Bakit di ako kasama?" Naka-pout at napapadyak pang sabi ni Janine.

Her silly smile faded nung may nakita siya sa likod namin. Lumingon ako and I saw Venice. Lumapad ang ngiti nito ng mamataan si Janine.

"Janine!" Her voice echoed in the hallway habang dali-daling lumapit kay Janine.

Nang makalapit na siya kay Janine, she hug her. I was surprised ng umilag si Janine mula sa yakap niya.

"What are you doing here?" Voice seething with anger, Janine's question surprised not only us, but as well as Venice.

What the hell is this? Akala ko ba childhood bestfriend sila?
