"My home is in heaven, I am just travelling through this world."

10th of June, 2017.

The sound of rolling thunder blissfully filled my ears, it's booming sound sent chills down my spine as my body became rigid. As it drew closer the clouds from the windows turned a dark shade, allowing the approaching lightning to illuminate their silver linings.

I looked away from the small window pane and towards Wes, he was standing in front of me. His eyes looking back and forth from the pages of the book to me, I watched as his hands gently glided over the pages before turning it quickly. "Matthias," his green eyes were staring intensely at me, "Here it comes." As he spoke another echoing blast of thunder erupted, causing the building to shake. Looking down at my feet I could see the lighting flash causing harsh shadows to form, as it's powerful electricity surged through the metallic stand where I stood.

It was a stinging sensation as it entered through the palm of my foot. Clenching my jaw I felt it travel effortlessly moving up finding passage through my bones. My body began to go numb as the stinging turned in to a form of pins and needles, I closed my eyes concentrating on collecting the pulses that vibrated through my being. "Matt, remember to control it." his voice was almost a muffle as my wings spread out from their cage, from my skin. Opening my eyes in shock I looked at the large wings, the white feathers began to change their shade of the glistening white to a deep black like those of a demon.

The watts travelled more swiftly, rushing up the bones that controlled my wings movement. And as quickly as it had engulfed me it had left, leaving discharged static electricity radiating from my now dyed feathers. The thunder still rolled over head.

Stepping away from the hot metal I quickly pulled my wings back as Wes walked towards me, "I did not expect that." He looked down at his book and began to write notes within the margin. He looked at my face and began to write more notes, "That - by the looks of things recharged you better than the other things we have tried."

Nodding I lifted up the bottle of water, as I unscrewed the cap I spoke. "Do you think that what happened a year ago made me like this?" I asked pushing back the haunting memories from that day. Wes paused.

Lifting the bottle to my lips I watched him as he pushed his glasses up his nose, "Maybe, no other angel can control the power of lightning we can only create shields." As I broke it away from my lips Wes placed his book on the side, "You can change everything, we can finally fight back the demons."

I rolled my eyes at his statement, he was always the dreamer. Too optimistic especially since other angels saw him as crazy. "Wes, I have been trying to control this for a year what makes you think I can do it now?"

As I screwed the lid back on, Wes had leaned in. Uncomfortably close. "When your mortal's life and your own depends on it you will," I shook my head at his words, we weren't allowed to save mortals from their deaths only to watch over them and take them to heaven. Wes leaned back, pulling of his glasses. "I know you think I am crazy but even sometimes there is an exception."

As we spoke more of the rules between angels and humans a loud knock sounded at the door, I looked over. "You didn't invite Remi?" he shook his head. "Do they know what we have been doing?"

"They know everything," Wes said as the knock came again, he put back on his glasses as he rushed over. Opening the door he smiled at the person standing before him, "Matthias, meet Louis."

The short man walked towards us, his eyes darting around the room where we conducted my 'training'. I held out my hand, wanting to shake hands with the fella but he looked down at my hand with a frown. "What's with your skin?" he asked, I looked at my hand and could see the veins that were all know visible due to the electrical charge.

"I have been like this for the past year," I state retracting my hand. "Is there anything we can do for you Louis?" I looked over at Wes, as Louis looked at all of the collected data.

Wes simply shrugged his shoulder, "Well we lost an angel today. Ngel. Maybe you have heard of him?" Wes and I both nodded, how could an angel die? the only answer is - "Demons attacked him today and his human, he had to protect them from the demon's touch which resulted in the loss of his life force."

Wes looked at me in panic, "I heard about you surviving the massacre last year you managed to kill a few of the demons." Louis looked at me with a hateful expression before continuing. "We want you to protect the human Ngel died protecting," he placed a file upon the desk near Wes. "Read that file, you'll leave in two days." he turned and walked towards the door. "long live us beings."

As the door swung shut I rushed to Wes' side, he was flicking through the pages quickly leaving myself no time to read. "Matt, you have been assigned a major fuck-fest."

I laughed slightly at his words, "You're joking right?" he shook his head as he pointed at one of the documents. I read the words that had been scripted down upon the tinted page, my hand covered my mouth as I groaned and read on.

"You weren't joking."
