"But you can't control who you love"

20th of July, 2017.

I laughed slightly as I lent over the balcony looking down at the happy citizens who walked leisurely in the streets below unaware of their guardians watching them nearby.  The street lights below started to flicker on as the sky turned dark, I felt my phone vibrate within my back pocket. Lifting it up I balanced it within my hand as I unlocked the touchscreen device.

It was a message from Wes, "Something is wrong up here, they are running around like headless chickens." I pressed my finger down and lifted the message box upwards revealing the second part of the message. "They might pull you out."

I frowned as I responded to the message, "Lets hope they find their heads soon." Honestly, I didn't want to leave, it was fun being a guardian.

I could see the light flick on as it lit up the metal bars that I was leaning upon. Clicking the button on the top I tucked it back within my pocket, as the glass door behind me slid open. I could hear her bare foot touch the cold surface which I stood upon. "There you are," she sounded happy as she spoke to me. "I was wondering where you got to."

I didn't move, my eyes fixated on the skyline that was striking against the red and yellow pigments that filled the horizon. "Are you okay?" placing her hand on my shoulder she wondered about my well being.

I shrugged my shoulders, "I honestly don't know." I said quietly, buried underneath the sounds of beeping horns and engines. I felt her hand slide down slightly, as she moved it in a circular motion trying to comfort me. "I didn't know that was so comforting," I acknowledged.

"You're an angel," she stated. "I guess you don't know many thing that relate to feelings." I looked around at her, her face was focused staring at her own hand that was placed on my white shirt.

"That is very true," I admitted. "You asked me if I ever wanted to be human, right?" She nodded. "Well I would want to be human to know every emotion," I smiled at her, before looking down at my hands.

"I might not be here tomorrow," I felt her remove her comforting hand that I had grown accustomed too. "I could get called back, apparently something is going on."

"You're leaving?" she asked, her voice getting quieter. All I could do was nod to her words, "You can't leave."

I stood up straight, and smiled as I looked up to the now appearing stars. "If I get told to, I have to."

The sound of silent cries filled my ears, causing me to turn around and my eyes to rest upon Emily. "Y-you can't. I don't want you to," She wiped her tear stained cheeks as she began to shout through the sobs. I stared at her in confusion as she looked up at me with her glossy black eyes, "You don't understand do you!"

Shaking my head I agreed with her, I really don't understand how to respond, or what she is feeling. "I will miss you. Not because you're my guardian angel, but because I-" I lifted my hand up before her, trying to stop the words escaping her lips.

"I'll miss you too," she looked at me with a wide smile. As my phone vibrated, the sound causing me to quickly unearth it from my jean pocket. It was a message, but not from Wes.

I slowly unlocked the phone by entering my pin number, 0231. I pressed the message icon and opened it. It read, "Matthias, you have been called back to the campus. Please meet us at the gates at 0900 tomorrow morning."

I sighed, looking down at the screen. "What is it?" I turned the phone around so she could see the text. "No, that's too soon." She said as I placed it back within my jeans. #

"It isn't us that gets to decide. It is them," I said as I took a step towards the doors.

She moved so that she was blocking my path, as she did I looked down at her, "What are you doing?"

She lifted up her arms, wrapping them around my neck as she pulled me down so that I could feel her breath on my face. "Emily?" I asked in a panic as she firmly held me in place. I felt my face turn warm as my heart sped up, she was staring me straight in the eyes.

"You really don't understand do you," she laughed slightly as her eyes glanced at my lips. She moved closer, her eyes slowly closing as she made contact with me. My eyes were wide as she left a kiss upon my lips, as she parted hers and played with my top lip.

Pulling away from me, looking at her in disbelief I felt my lips throb at the sensation she created. She smiled at me, it was devil like.
