"I was quiet but I was not blind"

17th of July, 2017

An almost quiet knock came from the balcony, turning my attention away from the screen I looked at saw Wes standing out in the coldness of the night. I jumped from my seat, as Emily's eyes followed my movement. "Wes," I pulled the door open. He smiled shyly at me before greeting the human with a wave. "What are you doing here?"

I invited Wes in with a gesture as Emily put the kettle on, "I have to update you on something - it's a bit sensitive." His eyes rested upon her as she pulled another mug from the shelf. What could be so sensitive that she couldn't hear I wondered, looking at her I took Wes' words in to consideration.

"Emily," I said as she looked at me with a curious expression. "I need to talk with Wes for a second, could we use your room?" She nodded as the kettle shook on it's plate. As she turned around to put coffee granules in to the mugs, I signalled Wes to follow by tilting my head in the direction of her room.

"What's so 'sensitive'?" I joked as I pushed the door open, revealing her room - which was much tidier than the other day. He followed me in, closing the door behind me and moving towards the window.

His eyes reflected the lights from the city below, he was silent for a while. "The demons," he spoke quietly. "The higher-ups found out that the demons are all planning to use her gifts. After all they are the most powerful, even more than an angel."

Shaking my head I moved towards the end of the bed, "That can't be true, why would they unleash a half-bred's power? we don't even know if she knows what she can do so how can they?" Sitting down on the mattress I pushed my hand through my hair.

Wes frowned, "Demons have a strange sense of things, how powerful a man is, how close one is to breaking. I think they are trying to make her break, that's the only way she would create the disaster that they desire."

We heard the front door creak open. "Who is that?" Wes asked. I shrugged my shoulders before creeping up from where I sat towards the bedroom door. Opening it I couldn't see anyone standing in the hall or even see anyone, looking back at Wes I smiled before stepping out in to the hallway.

"Emily?" I shouted out to the seemly empty apartment. I was wrong. It was empty. Looking back at Wes I frowned, "She must have heard us." He wore a face of worry, "Don't worry. She had to find out one day."

I left the door open as I rushed towards the living room, "You are going the wrong way!" Wes shouted after me.

Laughing, "Not if I want to get there first." Running towards the balcony I jumped, my feet going over the barrier as I looked down at the city pavement below. Jumping from the tall building I allowed my body to fall victim to gravity, as the ground came closer and closer with ease my wings spread out around me. I softly landed up on the ground as my wings gently put me down with ease, they brushed against the floor as I heard the doors open.

My eyes looked over to them, she didn't even look up as she ran across the road away from the apartment block. Where are you going?

She walked in to the park, I followed after her. She didn't acknowledge my presence since she had left the flat, until now. "Why didn't you tell me?" She spun round on her heel in the darkness her tear filled eyes looked up at me, "Why didn't you?"

"Because an Angel shouldn't tell you something you parents should," I tried to justify my actions, "You shouldn't even be able to see me."

She lifted her fists and pounded them against my chest, I couldn't feel her aggressive touches against my body. "How can I be something so evil? I didn't want to be this way." I nodded to her words.

It was silent as the city slept around us, only a few lights were kept on in the surrounding buildings. I could hear her anger and sadness within her cries, "you're my friend aren't you? you should have told me."

She had let up on abusing me, her hand twisted up in my shirt as appeared to have given up. "Can you teach me?" I looked down at her, "I know it is probably against the rules but I want to know what I am exactly."

I winced as she looked up at me with burning eyes. "You are going to be the death of me," I put my hand over my eyes. "Wes can tell you more than I ever will, I am sure he's still at the flat."

I turned around, "Would you like to be human?" she asked as we begun our journey back. I looked around the quiet park, my eyes looking up at the stars.

"I would," I said openly. "but I never will be human." I heard her make a sound like, oh. Was she disappointed with my words?
