After the Turmeric ceremony Dadi found Daya standing in the back garden alone. Soon after they started talking, Dadi realized her grandaughter-in-law to be was troubled.
Dadi placed a hand on Daya's shoulder and asked~ "Darling...can you tell this old woman what's on your mind?" ~ Dadi took a deep breath, lowered her eyes and said ~ "I hope I didnt hurt your feelings by pushing you and Aarav to share the same room that night...I was feeling childish I guess.."
Daya looked at Dadi and felt her heart warming up to her, "Dadi, no please..I'm just...I dont know if...I shouldn't even be..."~Dadi cut her short~ "Daya, look at me, and tell me whats on your mind. I am a woman first and foremost. Speak with me child, woman to woman."
Daya saw Dadi in a different light...not even her mother has ever said this to her before... Hearing this gave her the reassurance she needed to voice her concerns, and being able to share them with Dadi might be the perfect thing to do.
~ "Dadi...I feel as if...as if..I'm not sure what i feel to be honest....Aarav...am I the right person for him...? Is he..how is he..? how do I..? I mean..It's..Daadi...I dont knowwww..." ~ Dadi laughted at poor Daya trying to put her emotions together...
They talked for hours about school, friends, family, marriage, new life, kids...In the end of it all Daya realized that Dadi was the only person in her life she actually connected with...the one friend she never had, the mother who understood everything, the woman who she can share with. Dadi felt young again, to be staying up late and talking life, laughing and sharing under the night sky.
They stood slient for a while, looking up at the star filled sky, Dadi looked over to Daya and that's when Dadi said~
"Sweet Daya, you can always come talk to me. Always. and baby...Aarav is your perfect half. He will test your limits from time to time, and he will be unbareable...but you have to be patient and be there for him in his time of need. and I promise..He will surprise you. I am not saying after a lot of hardship you will end up living the cinderella life with a happily ever after, But I promise, life will be worth living. and that's all anyone could ever ask for my love."
Daya leaned over and gave Dadi a hug..~"Thank you"~ Dadi laughed and said ~"Always dear, always. Now go! Get some sleep!! It's extreamly late!! Tomorrow is the big day."
