December 2021
"Have you sent your application requirements, Amanda?" Tanong ng nakatatandang kapatid. They're on Zoom right now, having a conference call for siblings only.
Halatadong nasa duty si Lucas dahil isa itong caregiver sa isang home for the aged.
He's already a sous chef sa isang Italian restaurant.
"Huy, Amanda." She went back to her senses, "Susunod na sila Mama at Papa rito. Magpapaiwan ka pa ba diyan?"
"Inaasikaso ko naman na. Don't worry, Kuya.
Sana nandito ka na noon pa, you could have started sooner. With your skills and talent, malaki ang opportunity sa 'yo dito."
She knew that. But, how can she leave Fred when he needs her?
Sambit nila. She also bid them goodbye and go back to sleep.
Mukhang abugado.
May luncheon meeting ba sila? Wala naman siyang alam na meeting ni Fred ng ganitong oras, so it must be urgent. They are in a closed door meeting.
"Tara, lunch tayo!" Tara Italliani's."
Napairap siya rito. Palibasa mayaman, "Siraulo, anong tingin mo sa Italliani's. Fast food?"
"Gusto ko doon, eh!"
Umismid siya, "Wala akong pera para doon."
"Okay, pauutangin kita." Anito, "15 years to pay, no interest. Sige na, please?"
She sighed. Ano pa nga ba? Sandali siyang kumatok sa mga ito, "Do you need anything, Ma'am and Sir's?"
Umiling si Sir Rico, "None, Amanda. You can leave us."
She wonder what it would be.
It was a brief lunch.
She walked towards his office and knocked, "Come in..."
"Hi," She smiled and handed him a take out food, "I bought you food. Baka hindi ka pa kumakain,"
He smiled a bit pero agad din nawala, "Thanks, hindi ko na naisip." He said, "Saluhan mo ako?"
"Kumain na kami ni Samuel."
"Then just sit." Utos nito, "I need some company."
"What do you think of Camilla?" Nabigla siya sa tanong nito. Bakit napasok si Camilla sa usapan? "I mean, do you like her?"
Umupo siya sa katabing upuan at huminga nang malalim, "Yes, she's nice and easy to be with. Bakit?"
"Tingin mo bagay kami?"
Napalunok siya sa tanong nito, "Why are you asking me these questions?"
He sighed deeply, "B-Because you're the only person I never lied to in my life, Amanda. You're the only person who also never lied to me, so I need your thoughts regarding this..."
"I don't understand, Fred."
"I'm gonna ask her to marry me."
"What?" Hindi niya napigilan ang reaksyon. "D-Do you even love her?"
May inabot itong papel sa kanya. She read it briefly and just sighed. Last will and testament of his mother, Josephine.
Tehnically, Camilla owns it now.
"Mom said that if nobody between me and Carmen assumes her position in Sining. It will only be given to Camilla."
He wanted to pursue agriculture, and he did. Maliban sa Business Administration, nagtapos din si Fred ng Agriculture in which his parents didn't know, but she did.
Iyon ang kinuha nito sa University of Sydney. He didn't had the chance to inform his mother because she died even before he got home here.
"Fred, is this really what you want?"
"If you like her, maybe I can like her, too..." He said, "Then eventually, I can love her, too."
She clenched her fist.
"Fred, it wasn't your fault why your mom is dead." Diretso niya rito, "Huwag mo itong gawin sa sarili mo, huwag mong gawin kay Camilla."
He closed his eyes, "Amanda, this is the only way I can keep Sining. Hindi ko kalilimutan ang sarili kong plano. Lola said by marrying Camilla...."
He wouldn't assume the position, but if Camilla will take over the place, Sir Rico and Madam Carmelita still wanted a piece of Sining.
"Will you be happy?" She asked.
"I can only hope, can I?"
