Nakatayo ngayon si Amanda sa harapan ng coffee shop na pinatayo niya. It's starting to be complete, may mga applicante na rin siyang na-interview para maging tauhan dito.
Hindi pa naman niya kailangan ng marami. She settled for three workers, kukuha na lang siya ng part-timer kapag kailangan.
She can't help but to smile. Who would have thought that she can finally look at what she prayed for.
Her phone rang. Nakita niyang tumatawag si Charles sa kanya, "It's Saturday, soon to be ex-boss." Bungad niyang sambit rito, "I'm busy."
Tumawa naman ang huli, "Grabe, hindi man lang ex-boyfriend, ex-boss pala. I'm sure nasa Charlotte's ka lang." Hindi siya umimik dahil tama naman, "But, I do need a favor, please."
"What is it?"
"I need you to cover for me."
"Charles, I can't." Alam na niya ang ibig sabihin ng salitang iyon. It means that he needs someone to replace him in a certain situation, "I have a daughter who needs me."
"I know, I know but..." He sighed deeply, "But my hands are tight. But, let me tell you... Just do this for me, I'll pay for your first two months expenses in Charlotte's."
Natigilan siya bigla. Ganoon iyon ka-importante para rito? "What's this that you can't let it pass?" Agad siyang na-curious. "This isn't a family gathering, right?"
"No, no." He said, "But there's this business expo that I can't let pass. Amanda, this would be a record breaker for my business. Attendance matter."
She sighed, "Oh my goodness, Charles. You've been in a lot of business expo. Kilala ka na industry na ito--"
"Yes, and I need to keep it that way. So, please... Listen to me first?"
Pumasok na siya sa loob ng Charlotte's at umupo sa isang armchair, "Alright, what do you want from me?"
"Be my representative. I was given a five-day all expense paid Taipei Tour, wait don't hang up on me..."
"Charles, isang araw ko pa lang hindi makita ang anak ko mababaliw na ako. Then you want me to go for almost a week trip at sa abroad pa?" Napabuntong hininga siya't napasapo sa sentido, "No, I can't do that..."
"Darling please, ilang beses ko ng pinostpone iyan. If they knew I didn't show up again, I can lose an investor. I can lose a huge investor!" She can smell his agitation. Minsan lang naman maging ganito si Charles, pero masyado naman sobra!
"Oh my goodness, who's this investor anyway?"
He deeply sighed again, "Mr. Chan." Nanlaki ang mata ni Amanda. Gosh! Si Mr. Chan ang unang nagtiwala kay Charles pagdating sa negosyo, and if he didn't show up... "He wanted me to join the tour and promote the new airline and travel agency that he opened."
"Charles, oh my goodness. Bakit hindi ikaw?"
"I'll make it 6 months, Amanda. 6 months you won't worry in the expenses of Charlotte's, and you won't render to me anymore."
