All troubles wash away in the water.

"Mom? Dad?"
His parents are home?

"Adrian, we were wondering where you were. We came to see you since your brother is coming over in a few hours," I presumed his mom said.

"Dean is coming here?"
"Yes," spoke a male voice. "We're going to go overseas again and your brother will be staying with you. I'd think you'd make a happier expression to see your brother after two years."

Another person can't stay here. They'd eventually find out I am living with Ian and get us both into a heap sack of trouble. I knew what I had to do.

I stood up from behind the couch and waved at his parents. "I'm sorry for the inconvenience. I'm Ian's girlfriend, Cari."

The mom forced a smile. "o-oh. I didn't know that my son had a girlfriend."

I grinned. "Yeah, we only got together a bit ago and we didn't want to cause a fuss so he just told people I was his cousin. Your son is quite the shy one, Mrs.Archer. He also has to stop having soo many getaways from school. I have to teach him a few things."

Archer's dad came around and patted me on the head. "I like this girl, she gets me."
I looked up at him. "Mr.-"
"Call me Rob."

"Rob," I corrected myself.
I winked at Ian and he flushed pink. "...Ri, can I talk to you alone?"

Mrs.Archer waved her hand. "Dont worry about it, son. We were just leaving."

I sat on the couch and folded my legs. "So?"

He sat on the other sofa and avoided eye contact. "Now that your my 'girlfriend', you know how much trouble that'd gonna cause with me and my brother?"

"I'm sorry, I was just coming up with things in the top of my head so you wouldn't get in trouble when they found me."

He sighed. "Yeah..."
I walked over to him and sat by him, leaving a reasonable gap between us.
His posture made it clear he was stressed. His back was slouched forward, his hands cupped together and pressed against his forehead.

"So... I'm excited to meet your brother-"
"Dont be."

I shut my mouth and looked away. I was only trying to get rid of the heavy atmosphere. Now I feel really... My heart is hurting again.
But I think I was embarrassed.

Wow, now I feel guilty for making him embarrassed. "I'm gonna go to my room now."
Ian caught my wrist.

"I dont want to be alone when he comes."
"..." I sat back down and let Ian rest his head on my shoulder.

So is this what it's like to be a girlfriend? I feel like a mom, or a therapist.

After a good hour, my throat started getting dry. "Ian, I'm going go the kitchen. You need anything?"

"Just get out a plate of those brownies you like."

I walked into the kitchen and filled myself a glass and quickly drank it.
I went into the fridge and got out the container with the fudge squares in them.

I started placing them in a tower. Then I realized the tower would definitely tip over. Oh dear, I guess I'll have to eat a few.

I should probably get a water glass for his brother too, he'll probably be thirsty.

I got the glass in one hand and the plate it he other and made my way back to where Ian resided. "Ian I got the..."

Ian was having a full out staring contest with a taller young man, the same piercing green eyes and the same colored hair but was cut more professional. He also had a piercing in one of his ears.

The man caught my gaze and gave me a genuine smile. "Hello miss. I'm Dean Archer, Adrian's older brother."

He looked back at Ian. "Why are you hiring such young maids, Adrian?"

.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.

"Oh, I'm sorry I took it the wrong way. I would have never expected Adrian to get a girlfriend."
I don't think any of you would've guessed that.
All of you look down on Ian.

"How old are you, Dean?"
"I'm 21. And I presume you are 18 like Adrian? Maybe 17?"
I nod. Hopefully.

I got up to leave the boys to it but Ian tugged at the back of my shirt. He didn't want me to leave. I sat back down, making it seem like I was just trying to get into a comfortable position.
"So brother, how is school?"

"School is just great," Ian spoke to gritted teeth. "Not like you care though."

"Adrian, of course I care. London has just been very busy for me; many things that I need to do."
"And now you're done with all of them?"
"Yep, so now I'm gonna stay with you. By the way, it's getting very late. Shouldn't you take Cari home?"

Shoot! I looked at Adrian, hoping he could give a better lie than I could.
"She lives with me." Why would you tell him that?!
Regaining plenty of memories in my sleep, I know that many people get the wrong idea if a guy and girl stay together alone.

Dean just kept his small smile on his face. "Oh? Does mom and dad know about this?"

"It doesn't matter, I'm taking Ri to bed now."
Ian got up and tugged at my hand. I followed him and waved at Dean.

He waved back. "Bye Ri~"
Ugh, he has his brother's sing-songy voice.

But he isn't a bad guy. Sort of gives a tense atmosphere though.

I sat on the bed in my bedroom as Ian sat on the chair against the wall.

"Ri?"
"Yeah?"
"Stay away from him."
"Why? He doesn't seem that-"
"Please?"

When did Ian ever say please?
"Okay, I'll stay away from him but not so much it becomes obvious."
"Right. Now say something to change the topic. Girlfriends do that alot."

"Uh..." I looked around the room. "My room is really bland. Can we decorate it?"

Ian nodded and smirked. "You're good at this. Do you remember having a boyfriend in the past?"

I shrugged. "If it's in familiar atmospheres, I should've remembered right?"

Ian nodded and kept his smile on. "Right."

But I could see right through that smile. Ian was scared of his brother, and its not gonna get off his back that he's here again.
