Unfortunate Reunion ~ Klaroline (ON HOLD)

She was selfish, she was too busy with herself to ask Stefan anything about the blood. Katherine started to blame herself very quickly.

'This is my fault' she kept repeating in her head, tears streaming down her face.

"I'm so sorry Stefan" she wispered to the numb body laying on the couch.

When Caroline walked in the room and took notice of Katherine's current state, she was by her side in a mere second. Caroline had never seen this side of Katherine before, so vulnerable. But then she knew, then she knew that Katherine cared deeply for Stefan. There was a time when no one thought that Katherine was capably of feelings, but now it was so clear that she was.

"Hey hey...it is going to be fine! Klaus will be here soon and his blood will heal him..Okay?" Caroline said weakly not even sure if the plan would work. All she could do was hope. For one short moment she didn't even care anymore that Klaus would come soon, she wasn't afraid or nervous...All she could think about was the almost dying Stefan and the crying Katherine. Her two best friends were in pain and it hurt her too. If there was one thing that could really hurt Caroline, her weakness, was the hurt of the people she cared about. It was what made her truly unique.

Katherine nodded in response, but a thousand thoughts were circulation through her mind. A thousand what ifs. What if it doesn't work, what if Klaus doesn't make it in time, what if Klaus doesn't even come.....She kept all of those thoughts for herself, because she didn't want to spread any negative energy. 

They waited impatiently on the couch next to Stefan, for Klaus's arrival. Caroline was tapping her right foot, her hand began to feel clammy against her bouncing knee. She couldn't handle the wait anymore. 

Katherine found the silent waiting situation rather awkward and nerve wracking. She had a lump in her throat when she returned her gaze to Stefan for the thousandth time, hoping that there would be just a slight change since the last time she had checked, but unfortunately never found one.

After what seemed like forever they heard a car arrive. Katherine's eyes went wide "he's here"

Caroline got up and straightened her clothes when she heard the car door slammed shut.

She took a deep breath when she heard his footsteps coming closer and closer, until it was replaced with a knock on the door. 

Katherine remained on the couch so Caroline took that as her cue to open the door.

She slowly walked up to the door, she hesitated to open it. She closed her eyes for a second, telling herself that it would be okay. As she took one last breath, she opened the door.
