"Good morning love" he said softly as he took a seat across from her "good morning Katerina" he gave her a nod.
"Good morning" Caroline smiled weakly.
Katherine ignored him, she was annoyed at the fact that he said 'good morning'...like how on earth do you call this a good morning?
"How are you guys feeling?" he asked.
This was just too much for Katherine "how are we feeling?" she said "how are we feeling?" she repeated now louder, almost shouting. "Are you kidding me? How do you think we're feeling?"
"Calm down Kat, his intentions are good." Caroline tried calming down her friend.
"That's it, I'm out." without looking back she left the room leaving Klaus and Caroline behind.
"Don't mind her...You have to understand that she's just-"
"I understand Caroline...more than you think.." he said cutting her off.
"I'm sure you do" she said rolling her eyes.
"Yes Caroline, you can be sure of that" he said through gritted teeth "The number of friends that I've lost is far larger than the number of people that you even know."
"Friends" she scoffed. She couldn't even control her words, she was so sad...she had no idea what she was supposed to do or feel.
"Yes, friends. What? Do you still think of me as a monster?" he looked straight up mad.
"Yes" she spit out. She didn't even mean it, she was just mad at him in that moment and she instantly regretted it.
Klaus looked hurt "well...I don't have to stay here" he said standing up, starting to leave.
"Wait" Caroline said right before he could open the door.
"What"
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean it..." she said putting her hand to her head "you are no monster" she sighed "I honestly don't even know what I'm trying to achieve with this.."
He turned around and smiled lightly "it's okay.."
"Please don't leave"
"I won't"
----
Katherine couldn't help but listen to their conversation. She was happy for a second that he was about to leave, but no...of course Caroline had to stop him.
She just really couldn't handle seeing Klaus right now, she wanted to be alone. She wanted to grief on her own terms.
Although she knew that Klaus would help and comfort Caroline, she didn't care. All she could think of was Stefan being gone and Klaus was just another reminder of that. In fact, Caroline was also a reminder of that.
She wanted to disappear, she had to. Even if it was just for a little while. Maybe she could even start a new life...
She took her bag that was on her bed, still unpacked. Before she left out the window she left a goodbye letter behind for Caroline. She didn't want to have a real goodbye, because she knew Caroline would try and stop her.
A tear escaped her eye when she took one last glance of the house.
