They search for a tear
As they tell me what I've done
As if I do not know
And there will be none
A monster they make me out to be
But I know with utter certainty
I am not so
A monster would have been careful
Methodical, sadistically secret
The acts of a monster
Would have been never known
I am no monster
Merely a scared girl
Determined girl
Who held her own
But they don't know
What fire I survived
By wetting the wood
Ere the blaze began
They don't understand
And I will not reveal
I took no pleasure in my role
His image I will not revile
But I also will not cry
Tears do not come for monsters.
