Chapter 2 Layfon

Layfon is the same size as Jake he is 6'2 and he is very muscular. He doesn't work out very often because he doesn't need to he packs more and more muscle without much effort at all. He doesn't eat fast food or snacks because he reads too much and he knows the long-term effects. Layfon is dark skinned and he has neat dreads that reach his back, it is normally tied into a pony tail. He has a stern face but he is one of the nicest people in the world. He has loving parents, Louis and Anna Holiday they are a peaceful couple who could not have children on their own. Louis is a strong man and he works at a factory Anna works as a secretary and both could not be happier. They do not make much money but the money they do have they make sure Layfon was happy and he could not be happier with the parents he was given. He learned at an early age that the world is not fair but you can only enjoy living and not resent your situation. His father louis had been fired several times but he always picked himself up and rebuilt his life. His father was the kindest man that Layfon has ever known but the world constantly destroyed him.

Layfon has been liked his entire life because he was good looking and strong but he did not like to be in the spotlight. He would prefer to be the sword within the darkness saving the oppressed wherever he sees it. Since elementary school he would fight any bully, anyone he saw getting bullied would be beaten up in an instant so he was called lord of the nerds since middle school. He was very intelligent but he was an under achiever the world bored him and he had no interest in being number one. He could easily have been the number one or two in his high school but his rank is ten with no effort at all. He played a ton of video games and read a lot of manga. He could have been on the football team easily, with him as running back and Jake as the quarterback they would never lose a game. Layfon would do it but he didn't like the spotlight. If he ever became a football player, he would get unwanted attention and girls would be so blinded by his abilities that they wouldn't know whether or not they actually liked him. Layfon always had girls that liked him but he would turn most of them down because they didn't know why they liked him. They would just say he was cute or something silly like that and he would always ask, what if I was ugly? What if I was fat? Or disgusting by your standards? Would you still love me? Most girls didn't know what to say. Some would even say that he was weird, which only proved his point.

Today was different, after breakfast with Jake he walked to class and before he could get their Erica stopped him. Erica looked at Layfon and said I am in love with you. Layfon smiled as he prepared to run her off. Do you love me Erica? Layfon said. Erica blushed, she was about 5'5 with short hair. She was not an ugly girl but she was nowhere near the best looking in school. Layfon looked at her and asked why? Why do you love me? She said because you are so handsome. He looked at her with disgust, typical he thought. What if I was ugly? I would still love you Erica said. What if I was fat? Layfon screamed, I would still love you Erica said. Why? Layfon Said Why Erica? She said because you are thoughtful and you care for others, even when you are pretending to be cruel I can still see the love in your eyes she said quietly. No matter how much you try to hide it, you read manga I see you all the time she said I love manga and so many people are afraid to read it, in school me included. Erica looks at him and says but you do not care you do what you love and I wish I had your strength. Erica continues you could easily be a football star everyone knows you are fast enough, and you are so smart being handsome is just one of your many features. Layfon didn't know what to say, this is the first time a girl looked at him, not the shell the holds his spirit but the real him. Layfon looked at Erica and asked may I kiss you, Erica stands on the tips of her toes and closed her eyes. Layfon then moved closer and whispered maybe next time Erica. Layfon then walked to class and Erica did not understand, she stood there for a second with a puzzled look on her face. Layfon wanted to test her, girls usually move on after the first rejection because they do not understand the way Layfon thinks. Love is not something that comes from thin air, love takes time. Layfon's father told him it took him years to know whether or not his mother was the one. Layfon breezed through his classes and he read manga in most of them because his classes were boring. He couldn't wait for gym though the only person who can see him shares his class.
