Chapter 6: Lesbian, Nice
"F-Florida?" I stammered.
Didn't Sam mention someone back in Florida taking Jen from her?
Oh wait. She said Adam, not Abraham.
Pshhh.
"Yeah! Great state." Abraham smiled.
Adorable.
"Why, um, why did you move?" My palms are sweating.
"My mom thought I was having problems with some of the people at school. I don't know I guess I was, there was this girl who hated my guts." He said.
"Why?"
"I'll never know, she's hated me since middle school." He shrugged.
I am now praying that Adam is not Abraham. If he says her name was like Cam or something, I think I'm gonna lose it.
I looked past Abe and saw Cassidy watching me with hatred pouring out of her eyes.
"Amber?" Abe said my name.
I shook my head and looked at him, "yeah?"
"Well?" He waited.
"Oh did you ask me, I'm sorry please repeat what you said." I said to him.
He scratched the back of his neck, "I asked if you wanted to hang out after school today."
My eyes widened, "me? With me?"
He laughed, "yes Amber."
My little red flags are shooting up like crazy.
But Abe is hot.
At this point I am almost certain that Adam is Abe and if that is the case should I be talking to him?
I don't want Sam to think she's losing me.
Well, I'm not dating her or anything so what's the big deal?
Its not a date, just us hanging out.
Crate thinks I'm gonna fall in love with him but I don't see that happening.
"When and where?" I ask him.
***
I practically run out the building after school lets out.
I see Crate at the door and I catch up to her.
"Crate!" I call.
"Hey Amber, whoa slow down what's up?" She asks me.
"I have news." I say panting.
"Get in the car." She says.
I climb in her car and shut the door.
"Alright don't waste any time, tell me what's going on." She says and starts the car.
"Sam. First of all I love her, gym was pretty eventful." I tell Crate.
"Explain."
"Well she told me this sad ass story as to why she moved up here. She moved here from Florida, keep that in mind." I say to her.
"Yes ma'am, keep going." Crate says.
"Okay so basically she had a friend who left her when they got to high school and she actually was in love with her." I inform Crate.
"Lesbian, nice." Crate nods approvingly.
"And her parents got a divorce so that's why they left the state. Now, I was just talking to Abraham and he said he moved up here from Florida also. Sam mention someone she hated someone named Adam and how he took Jen, her friend, from her and how he always took the girls she liked." I stoped so Crate could absorb all this information.
"You think-"
"That Adam is Abraham, yes." I say.
"What did you and Abe talk about?" She asks me.
"He said he went to a private school in Florida and he left because his mom thought he was having problems with some of the other students. There was this girl who hated him."
Crate's eyes widened, "Sam."
"Exactly." I answered.
"This is crazy! So they both left just to run into each other again." Crate put a hand on her forehead.
Same Crate, same.
"Also, Abe, asked me to hang out later today." I looked at Crate.
Her jaw dropped, "what?"
"Should I go?" I ask.
"Um yes! Abe is cute as hell, why wouldn't you go?" She raised an eyebrow.
"Well, Sam and I had a small moment today." I say.
"Oh?" She poked me.
"Hush."
I told her about gym. The girls making fun of me and Sam telling them to shut up. When we played volleyball, when I got smacked in head, our talk, how I was sitting on her lap, when I touched her hair, our lips almost touching-
"Lap sitting?? Amber you naughty girl!" Crate exclaimed as she turned into my drive way.
"Crate!" We laughed.
"And you kissed?! WHERE WAS I?" This girl is going to make my parents come out here.
I was in tears, "Crate, stop talking just stop. No one kissed anyone."
"Fine fine, just let me know when you do I'll be ready." I opened the car door and got out.
She called after me, "good luck on your date! No sex!"
"Not a date! And stop it!" I laughed.
I skipped up the front stairs to my house.
When I entered my parents were standing there looking at me.
"Um, good evening." I say.
They exchange glances.
"What?" I ask.
They exchange another glance.
"Alright then I will go wash up for dinner then I will be heading out." I walk past them.
They once again share a look, my mom smiles at my dad. One of those told you so smiles and I walk upstairs.
**
After dinner I am waiting outside for Abe to pick me up.
He said he will be here at 5 and we would go bowling.
My parents acted weird all through dinner.
Its like they made a bet or something and every time I would say something, my mom would send my dad a look with a smile and he would send her back a look.
When I told them I would be hanging out with the new boy from school my mom was very excited. My dad however asked about Sam. I didn't know how to answer his question.
I see headlights, must be him.
He pulls up and I get in the passenger seat.
"Welcome aboard." He smiles at me.
We go to the bowling alley and we rent shoes and one lane with three rounds.
"You're terrible at this." I tease him.
We're on our last round and I'm up by 20 points. I've had 6 strikes by now and most of his balls were gutter balls.
Mario refused to turn on the bumpers because we are grown.
He laughed, "watch this."
He grabbed a ball and stood in position. He tossed it and...
Gutter ball.
"Whoohoo! 10 gutters in a row!" He hollered.
I started laughing when he hopped on top of the table that we ate our pizzas on and he started screaming.
"I'M THE KING OF THE WORLD."
"Get down and shut the hell up!" Mario the alley owner yelled.
We both laughed has hard as we could as he ran away to the arcade.
For the rest of the night Abe and I played arcade games and I won more tickets every time.
He is the dorkiest boy I've ever met.
At 8:00 we decided it was time to go home so we cashed in our tickets.
I got a small stuffed lion and he got a Statue of Liberty key chain.
He loved it.
I laughed, "how much more adorable can you be?" I muttered.
Well I guess he heard me because he then said, "I didn't know I was adorable at all so I can't really answer that question." He smirked at me.
We were standing in the parking lot.
He's really close.
"I had fun." I said.
"Me too, thanks for saying yes." He smiled.
I then became conscious of the distance between us. Small.
"I, um.."
Abe leaned forward and closed the last couple of inches between my lips and his.
He stopped, "I like you Amber." His breath tickled my lips.
I can't.
Why can't I ?***
