Christmas Eve. There's a pine tree in the corner of the room. It is decorated with many ornaments of gold and silver colour. Under the tree are an assortment of presents, from co-worker to co-worker. There are golden lights hanging from various workstations. Outside it is snowing, not another structure in sight. Ice coats the ground. Inside, a team of scientists are going about their daily duties. A teenage girl walks through a door, into the room with the tree. She has long ginger, curly hair and fair skin; dotted with freckles. Her eyes are an intense shade of green and hold a gleam that is almost non-existent. That girl is me.
"Morning everyone." I say.
"Morning Brooklyn." They reply.
Four other people are in the room, already working.
"I need you to examine the perimeter today." A woman says.
"Okay Kath." I reply.
I grab my warm coat and clipboard. Every day someone has to check the outside of the base, to make sure nothing abnormal happens. We are a scientific base after all.
I walk to the door across from the one I came through, leading outside. Pressing a button, I open the door.
I tread out onto the ice. Our boots are especially griped to be able to withstand ice and not slip. I start around the side of base, looking around while I do so.
~Time Skip~
I am just about done with my day's work when I hear the screech of the intercom.
"Brooklyn! Come quick, we've found, these...creatures."
I pick up my stuff and rush back to the main room. It sounded pretty urgent.
Walking in the door, I step into a room of panic. My crew is rushing around, luring creatures into our sick bay. They're humanoids, but where their faces should be was a mass of wrinkled lavender. No eyes or visible mouth. I couldn't tell under all those creases. There are five of these humanoids, seemingly slowly hunting the humans in the room.
"What the hell?! What are they?! How did they get here?!" I yell.
"Just help us will you?!" A man, Daniel replies. He has a lifted chair in his hand, and is trying to push some of the creatures back.
I join in on the rounding up, and we eventually get them all to go into the corridor that leads to the base's sick bay. Somone opens the sick bay door and closes it when they are all inside. After the door is locked a breath is let out that we all seemed to be holding.
"Right. Questions. First, what are they?" I ask.
My team looks at each other.
"We don't know." A silvery haired woman, Victoria; answers.
"We'll have to conduct research." My teammate Remus, adds.
"Second question, how did they get here?"
"We don't know that either. They sort of just, appeared. We were going about our business, I turned around and there there they were." Kath answers, her blonde hair falling in front of her eyes.
"Well we need to find o-" I am cut off by an incessant beeping which seems to be coming from one of our stations.
"What's that for?" Remus asks, being the worrier of the group.
"It's mine...my station." Victoria replies. She walks over to said station and sits in the chair.
"It's a warning, it means..." Her eyes widen.
"What?" Daniel inquires, now also worried.
"There are life signs all around us! I don't know where they came from but look..."
We all gather around Victoria's chair. She points to a clump of red dots on a map.
"This is us." Her finger moves a few spaces to the right.
"This is the sick bay and the creatures we encountered." Her hand now falls to her lap.
"But look on the outside. There is a bunch of life outside of our base. And they are converging inwards. We may be under attack."
"Wait- look, they've stopped moving." I say.
"They're on the roof." Kath says, voice hitched.
We look up to the ceiling.
"AHHHHH!" We all scream.
More creatures similar to the ones we found before are crawling around the ceiling. At the sound of our voice though, they start dropping. We try to run, but it is no use. And then-CRASH! A big hole is left in the side of the wall. The creatures are flown across the room. Debris litters the floor. The cold, cold wind rushes past us. The screaming has stopped. The creatures turn to dust. My team takes this as an opportunity to hurridly grab their coats. As they finish putting on beanies and scarfs, they look back on the scene. I am staring, backed against my station, at what has come through the wall. They stare with me. A tall, rectangular blue box marked 'Police Public Call Box' ; is sitting in the middle of the room. The door opens slowly. We wait in curiousity and fear. An older man, perhaps in his fifties; pokes his head out.
"Hello everyone. I'm the Doctor."
A woman follows behind him.
"Hi, I'm Clara."
Silence.
"You." I point to the Doctor.
"Me?" He questions.
"I know you." I answer.
"Well yes, I just told you my name so I suppose you could say that you know me." He replies.
"No-" I am interrupted by Remus.
Although timid, he speaks with certainty "I know him too. He-he's the Doctor. You know, from Doctor Who."
No one on my team asks for an explaination.
"That wasn't a question. What do you mean by that?" The Doctor asks.
"Well, um." Victoria speaks up.
"There's a tv show about you. It's called Doctor Who. It tells the stories of your travels around time and space."
"How interesting. Do you all watch this show?"
I nod my head, while I also look around the room. Everyone else seems to be nodding aswell. I had no idea that we were all such nerds. (Apart from being scientists of course.)
"That's not what I mean though. I've met you, Doctor. In the bank of Karabraxos."
A look of realisation hits his face.
"Oh, that was you! I thought you looked familiar."
"Uh Doctor, I'm going to go read in the tardis. This looks like it'll be an easy fix for you." Clara opens the doors to the tardis and goes back inside.
After this, the Doctor speaks.
"Now, let's get down to buiness."

Finally, at long last, here I am! Long story short I got to a bit where I wasn't as excited to write so I put it off for the longest time. But here I am, back in action. I have a bit of the other chapters planned out too so I'm less likely to procrastinate. Also, let me know if the chapters aren't long enough. Currently I'm aiming for 1000 words but I feel like that may be too short.
