Alex’s POV
“I need to know how the hell did the kid passed the test now, Commander!” the head officer screaming at Spock. I startled. Thanks to Kirk, he has got more work to do.
Spock told me to follow him and help him with his work. I stated right away and checked every single specs in the exam. I can’t believe he violated a rule because of me. I really hope no one knows that he cheated on the test because of a stupid date with me. I sighed and continued my work.
A few hours later Spock found a virus in the specs of the test. “Lieutenant I have found some kind of a hacking device in the specs,” Kirk is in deep trouble now and I can’t do anything about it. “We need to report this to the Admiral,”
“Is there any other way other than ‘report to the admiral’ or not?” I was trying to save Kirk’s ass, but failed. “No Lieutenant, there is no other way,” Spock answered, “Logically, he needs to stand trial for tomorrow if we report this today,” he added.
”What? What trial?,”
“Cadet Kirk maybe kicked out of the Academy or else,”
I started to worry about Kirk. He’s such a jerk. But… he’s something else. I can feel it. He’s just brash and irresponsible person. He’ll learn his lesson in the future. He’s gonna learn his lesson tomorrow. During assembly.
“Lieutenant, are coming with me to the Admiral?” Spock interrupted.
“Oh, no commander,” then Spock went out.
I sighed. Kirk’s a dead meat tomorrow.
Kirk’s POV
“This session is has been called to resolve a troubling matter, James T. Kirk step forward,”
Admiral called my name to go right in front of the rostrum. I looked confused and followed his orders.
“Evidence have been submitted to this account that you violated the regulations of Kobayashi Maru or in other means, you cheated,” he said, “Is there anything would you like to say before we begin?”
“Yes, I believe I have the right to face the accuser, sir,” I said, with my face looking worried. Then, a Vulcan stood up and went and stood beside me.
“This is Commander Spock, he one of our best graduates. He programmed the Kobayashi Maru exam for the last four years,”
I looked at him. I feel like pulling the bangs off his head.
Commander Spock explained everything what I did on that test.
“Your point being”
“Act of treasons and you cheated,”
I saw Uhura smirked at me. She’s quite happy now I guess.
“The test itself was a cheat, isn’t it?” I said, trying to win the this part.
“I would like to ask for assistance for this,” Commander Spock said, “Commander Pike, would you like to help me with this?”
What? Alex? No, no no. I saw Alex looking pale, she was frozen. She stood up, looking at me. Alex walked right between Commander Spock and me and she explained, “You failed to understand the lesson to be learned on the test,”
“Please, explain it to me,”
“You all should know Cadet Kirk, Captain cannot cheat death,” she said, “Your father, Captain George Kirk took command of his vessel before being killed in action do you know that?”
“I don’t think you like the fact that I beat your test, Commander Spock,”
“You still don’t understand the purpose of the test,”
“Explain it again”
“The purpose of the test is to experience fear,” Commander Spock said, “Fear and face of certain death,”
Commander Spock explained thoroughly about this. I looked down, feeling stupid.
