Leo
I mean, it was a really sweet photo. And had I not known Nico or Percy, I would've just smiled and moved forward with my life.
But, as Frank has said, Percy is the straightest dude to exist.
So when there's a series of photos, 3 to be exact, one of which contains the two of them kissing, it... I mean, I didn't expect it.
Not that I disapprove. Like I said, it was a sweet photo and the photo following if they both seemed really happy. I'm bisexual myself.
It's just that a warning would have been nice j stead of Nico lying about who he was going out with.
Everyone came over and looked at the photo. Which made them all go, okay what the fuck. This is new. This wasn't expected.
"How do we ask without jr getting weird?" Hazel questioned.
"We don't." Grover told all of us, sounding more serious than ever. "I don't care how badly you guys want to know what happened, don't do it. Percy will freak the fuck out if anyone but Jason or myself say anything. And we found out... Well Jason eaves dropped and I lived with Percy for nine months at a boarding school. He doesn't want people knowing. He never told Annabeth, and I highly doubt his parents know. Sally might. But Percy will actually probably hyperventilate until he passes out if somebody tells him they found out like this. It's like his only fear."
So asking about it went out the door.
But then again, I'm Leo, and I have loopholes.
Percy woke up around 8, and we had placed the photos upside down so it wouldn't seem like we knew what was on them even if we walked by.
He seemed fine.
So I decided to get curious.
"Hey, Percy," I remarked to him as we both made breakfast. He made the pancakes. I made eggs and bacon. "No real reason, I'm just getting an M.O. on all of you guys here because I've been shocked before. But you're just straight, right?"
He gave me a weird look.
"Just straight?"
"Have you ever had a boyfriend or a crush on a guy before?"
"What, why do you—"
"You're avoiding it, I'm assuming yes." I told him as I finished a few more pieces of bacon. "I don't know why you'd assume it. Nico's staying here and he's very openly gay, so. And there's me, too. But you do you, man. I don't believe what Annabeth says anymore."
"Anymore?" He asked me. "When did that happen?"
"When I found out she was a cheater." I explained to him. "She's said a lot of shit about you man. Nobody believes it, though, aside a few people. Jason is one of them. She's said you're bi, that you were raped, so on and so forth. I figured I'd be safe because that sort of shit can ruin someone. You know?"
"Oh, yeah." Percy told me. "I know. In 7th grade I knew a guy who was starting to realize he wasn't straight and he was on the JV Football team and he had a crush on one of them guys in the team and they gave him a terrible time about it and they were so rude and he killed himself the night before they went to sections."
So that might be why he doesn't want to come out. Watching something like that can mess with how you think coming out will go. Even if you knew nobody would care, you still wouldn't want to do it.
Anyways, the topic wasn't really brought up after that. Once we finished cooking, everyone came to get their food, and Grover noticed a photo on the fridge.
"You still have this dumb thing?" Grover asked the son of Poseidon, motioning to a pretty old photo. Percy couldn't have been older than... 15? Closer to 14?
"Well yeah," Percy told him. "it's the only photo I ever got of all of us. Apollo took it, remember? Not long after we left the school."
"Annabeth isn't even in the photo," Grover pointed out.
"That was her fault for falling off that cliff."
Oh.
Wow, Percy.
That sounded pretty heartless.
"I forgot that she fell off of that thing." Nico remarked. "And lived. That's why you went on that quest."
"Without permission." Grover added.
"And four of us snuck out the summer before so Thalia wouldn't die, you can't talk crap, Grover." Percy told his best friend. "Clarisse just about got all of us suspended."
"What?" Jason asked, confused.
"Oh, an enemy had poisoned Thalia's Tree, while Thalia was still a tree." Grover filled us in. "Chiron was kicked out of camp, some ass replaced him, sent Clarisse on a quest to find the Golden Fleece and later on Percy, Annabeth, and Tyson snuck out. I was stuck on an island. It was... It was a dark time."
We all looked at Percy.
"I never said I didn't cause trouble." Percy defended himself. "But yeah. We caught up to Clarisse and she got pissed at first. But then she saved our ass in the end. So yeah. I don't know why you guys think I'm an angel child. I've been through like ten schools. I try not to cause trouble. But I'm a demigod. That doesn't happen."
Yeah...
Yeah, I understood that last part.
Because on one hand, I want to go back to public school. Meet new people. Make new friends.
But it probably wouldn't end well.
Either way, breakfast went really well and the food wasn't half bad. We talked about some weird things, but that was pretty normal. And Grover got something on his phone.
"Hey, Percy," Grover remarked. "Remember when Camp used to make us keep those diaries?"
Percy sighed.
"Yes, I hated them." The son of Poseidon confirmed for him. "What about it?"
"Somebody got ahold of your first year," the satyr told his best friend. "And made a fucking musical about it. Yancy Academy and all."
Percy kind of looked at Grover as everyone else looked at him.
"Okay, why is that even remotely interesting?"
Grover shrugged.
"It might be to mortals."
"Can't we get arrested for that, though? Getting too close to what actually happens?"
So, what did we do? We went to check it out.
