Percy

Hades was hiding something from he. He came back from lunch and everything was fine. But after lunch...

Mind you, it's just from Nico and I. And it had to do with my dad.

With Hazel and Frank also here, along with Bianca and Thalia, we're relaxing in the living room. Listening at what Hades, Persephone, Zeus, Hera, Ares, and Demeter were all talking about. Because first they were talking about my dad not being here.

"I thought he was planning on coming, though." Hera remarked. "Did he say he'd be late?"

"Oh, yeah," Hades remarked. "Something came up and...  he told me about it last night. I told him not to feel bad."

"Something?" Persephone questioned her husband.

"He for invited out for the weekend." Nico's dad elaborated what he meant. "Her plans, well that people she was spending the fourth with cancelled on her. She invited Poseidon to take their spot, and he felt bad because if he didn't go she'd spend the Fourth alone. So he's in New York."

We all shared a look, because I had no idea as to what my dad was doing this weekend. But I had a feeling he wasn't... I was conflicted.

"A girl?" Zeus questioned, knowing my dad. "A girl he has a thing for?"

"Okay, the last time he had a thing for someone was Sally." Demeter pointed that out. Which this entire thing was starting to make me uncomfortable. "20 years ago. I don't think he's been single for thinking before."

"Well," Hades told the others. "Can the kid hear us?"

They yelled and we didn't respond. Being smart, and curious.

"Alright,no didn't want to say anything if Percy or Nico could hear us." Hades was honest about that, and I felt offended. So did Nico. "Mainly because Poseidon hasn't said anything yet and I don't think they've been told."

Okay, so my dad has secrets. That's normal, I guess. Were not too close or anything.

"So what's going on with Poseidon?" Ares asked Hades.

"Him and Sally are getting back together," Hades told the others and I felt instant betrayal. "She was supposed to spend the Fourth with her cousins or something. But their flight got cancelled and so she invited Poseidon out to a like her cabin or something for the weekend. I talked to him earlier and he said that it's going great. I don't know what that means. He said that they haven't told anyone yet. He just sounded really happy."

Everyone looked at me, expecting me to be mad.

I glanced down at my phone.

"I think I'm going to call my mom." I told them. "See if she lies to me about this."

Sally

We were relaxing, so when Percy called down I didn't think anything of it. Put him on speaker. We haven't told anyone yet, so... I don't know. I figured that after this weekend we could. Well, no. I did tell Gordon. And I think Poseidon did tell Hades. But that's... They're both men of their word. They are.

"Hey, sweetie." I answered the call. Percy never told me his plans for this weekend. Said he had plans. But didn't say what they were. I assumed Nico would be with him. "What's up?"

"Not much, we just had lunch." My oldest son told me. "You said Gordon would be at the cabin this weekend, right?"

"Oh, yeah!" I responded, getting a weird vibe from the question. "Their plane got delayed. He said it might get cancelled but hasn't responded to anything recently. Why?"

"Just curious." He told me. "I was going to call him but I didn't want to if it's the middle of night where he is. And do you know we're Dad is by chance? He was supposed to be here this weekend."

Oh shit.

And I know that Poseidon was invited to Hades' place for the weekend. That's why Hades knows about us. Because Hades told him to not feel bad. Nobody should be alone for the fourth.

"I haven't talked to him, so no." I felt bad lying but this is not how I'm telling my kid that were back together. "I don't know where he is. Sorry."

"No, it's fine." Percy assured me as Poseidon just kind of laid there. Not knowing what to do. "I'll try calling him again. According to Hades he won't answer his phone. But whatever. I'll let you get back to what you were doing. Happy Fourth, Mom."

"You, too. Love you."

"Love you, too."

He hung up. And not five minutes later, Poseidon's phone went off.

Poseidon answered. Put him on speaker.

"Hey, bud," Poseidon told our son. "What's going on?"

"Nothing much," he had just about the same response as he did to me. "I thought you said you were coming this weekend, though."

"Yeah..." The former god responded. "I talked to Hades last night about that. Something came up. I can't really say, it's a long story. Sorry. I assumed he'd tell everyone I wasn't making it."

"Oh, well," Percy remarked. "He didn't. Nobody has asked, though, either. And would you happen to know where Mom is? Neither her or Gordon are answering me right now."

I silently scoffed.

My son didn't believe me. He was testing us to see if our stories matched up.

"Um, I haven't talked to your mom for a few weeks, Percy." Poseidon knew the story, though. "Much less see her. I am of no help to that situation. Sorry."

He pushed harder on his dad.

"That's fine." Percy promised him. And then thought of something. "But you're sure you haven't seen her or anything? Haven't gone out on a date or....?"

"Percy," Poseidon cut our kid off. "As much as you know that I miss your mom, you also know that it won't happen."

"I'm just asking." He insisted, backing off of the subject. "But I'm going to head. So have fun doing whatever you were doing with whatever came up."

"You, too."

Percy hung up.

Percy

I have never felt more betrayed. Especially by my own parents. About getting back together.

Because I don't think they get that I really don't care if they get back together. If anything, it makes my life easier.

I'm not dumb. My dad is even honest about that he misses my mom. Mom acts like she's moved on and dates these guys that she cares about but not like she does with my dad. And they both deny that they'll ever get back together.

Like just get back together for God's sake. You'll both be happier. If I end up with another sibling, I really don't care. I have moved out. As long as he doesn't hurt her, that's all I care.

They just need to get back together and get over themselves. Even Paul agreed with that. He saw it, too. Even Gabe did. He always told me Mom didn't care about him, she was hung up over my dad.

"Dude..." Thalia remarked after I hung up front my dad. "That's rough. Even your parents—"

"Hey, kids." Demeter cut us off. "What's going on in here?"

We all looked at our parents plus a few others.

"Betrayal."
