JUNE
Location: Luke's New Apartment
"Home, sweet home,"
"Dork."
Luke chuckled, closing the door behind him as the young woman stepped elegantly into the apartment; a blue bundle of a small baby wrapped in blankets in her arms, eyelids shut tight, light eyelashes hitting his soft, rosy cheeks.
"Welcome home, little baby," she cooed, stroking his face lightly, "Welcome to our home,"
"Finally," Luke breathed, to which the woman simply laughed.
He stood behind her, arms wrapping delicately around her waist as he rested his chin on her shoulder, peeking at the baby in front of them with a warm expression.
"He looks just like you," she smiled, gaze flickering between Luke and the newborn, "Blue eyes and everything,"
"Mia, he's sleeping,"
"I saw them before he fell asleep, shut up," she rolled her eyes lightly, lips curling upwards at the way he chuckled again.
She then focused all of her attention back to the tiny child in her arms, all of a sudden feeling emotional as tears threatened to brim at the corners of her eyes.
"Oh, our little Corey. We're all going to have so much fun together," she whispered.
"Yes we are," Luke murmured in confirmation, pressing a slow, gentle kiss against her temple before continuing to gaze at their son in awe.
A sigh fell past his lips, filled with nothing but content and outright happiness, "I'm so lucky,"
She giggled, looking back at him with a raised eyebrow. Amusement covered her face as she spoke, "Where did that come from?"
He shrugged. He didn't have an answer. He just knew that nothing, absolutely nothing, could beat that particular moment in time.
It was nothing less than perfect and she, Mia Jacobsen, was nothing less than what Luke needed.
For a second, he felt as if everything was going to be okay. They had gotten the apartment after however many months he had spent picking up random jobs here and there, and things were finally starting to look up for the two- as well as the small, sleeping boy cuddled in between them.
This could work. Luke could build on this. Maybe the big boss in the sky was finally giving him a break- he had to leave home, had to ditch his brothers, was forced to drop out of school.
Perhaps this was finally his reward for dealing with it all.
Oh, if only Luke knew how wrong he was.

"Come on, little man. Say, Da-da!"
"Oh, Luke. Lay off it, will you?" Mia laughed, shaking her head lightly as she leant over the small kitchen counter, "He's a month old,"
