To say that Sophie loved little Corey Hemmings would be an absolute understatement.

He was the sweetest, most charming and liveliest child she knew, and that said a lot considering she worked at Build-A-Bear and was surrounded by a plethora of kids almost every single day.

He was just happy, and excited about everything, and so polite. She knew it shouldn't have surprised her as much as it did, but Luke did an amazing job raising the kid despite not being able to be there for him for most of it at all.

They baked cookies, and danced to songs, and he even asked her what her favourite colour was so that he could use the same colour icing on one of the sugarcookies he was in charge of decorating. Then he gave one to her, the best one; covered in sprinkles and cut carefully in the shape of a heart.

In short conclusion, Sophie Hood had fallen for one Hemmings and she was quickly learning to love another.

"He's the sweetest," she stated in awe, watching as the little boy ran off with a plate of pink cookies ready to offer to Ashley, Michael and Ashton; the three current occupants of the gazebo further down the garden.

"He adores you," Luke noted, slinging a clean dish towel over his shoulder as he placed both of his hands on the edge of the kitchen island, "Wouldn't stop giggling in the car ride over here. Hope you didn't mind us showing up uninvited, though, I know you and Ashley had plans,"

"I don't think she's complaining. She's getting cookies," Sophie noted optimistically, gesturing towards where Ashley was currently kissing Corey's face over and over as a thanks for the colourful food.

Luke chuckled, raising an arm up to hook over the girl's shoulder as she joined him behind the kitchen island, "No fancy cooks today, Miss Hood?"

"Nope," Sophie giggled, "I told Charlie he could have the day off,"

He raised an eyebrow, "Oh? How come?"

"He always works so hard. Figured he needed a break," she shrugged. He stared at her in the same awe he found her looking at his son with, not quite believing the extent of her selflessness, "And besides, it's only me at home today. I'm not exactly gonna ask a chef to pour me some cereal in the morning when I can do it myself,"

"You," Luke began, slowly pulling her closer towards him until her small body hit against his hip, "Are an angel."

"Nope. Just nice." she smiled back, craning her neck up to give him a small kiss. Like always, the sea of butterflies in her stomach erupted like untamed fireworks, causing her to get ever so slightly lightheaded at the feel of Luke molding his lips against her own.

He lifted her up slowly, his careful movements staying reserved as the blond carefully set her down on the kitchen counter, spreading her legs slightly apart so that he could stand in between them. Luke could feel her smile against his lips, causing himself to do the same.

She's an angel, Luke found himself thinking, But damn does she kiss like a sinner.

"Okay, Corey Hemmings did not slave over a hot oven for you guys to eat each other's faces instead of his cookies," a scoffing voice interrupted them, causing the couple to spring apart almost immediately.

Ashley stood in the doorway of the back door, a small smirk on her face as she began to walk knowingly towards the fridge. Sophie's cheeks burned as she gracefully slid off of the counter, somewhat sheepish for getting caught.

Luke, on the other hand, just rolled his eyes. He sent her a small smile as she edged her way around the island, clearing all the pans they had used and carefully storing them in the dishwasher.
