As I watch the world go by I let my mind run free. Today was the perfect day for a good daydream on the bus. Though I have a great life sometimes I just like to imagine what could be. I was woken up by the screeching sound of the bus’s brake signaling me that I was finally home. I slowing stood up and threw my coat on, preparing myself to go into the torrential down pour. I scurried down the bus’s steps and made a run for cover. When I finally got into the garage and peeled my soaking wet coat off and hung it up to dry. In the process I noticed that both of my parents were home. I couldn’t help but why, they usually get home around five or six. Either I was in some form of trouble, something horrible happened, or something amazing. I snapped out of my thought process and hurried inside and changed in to warmer more dry clothes. I heard my mom yell for me to come down and talk to her. I slow crept down the stairs and walked into the family room. Only to see her my dad and five unfamiliar faces. Though the face at the far end of our couch looked oddly familiar, I couldn’t decide were I had see it before. After thinking about it they all looked familiar. My mom’s voice cut off my rushing thoughts.
“Why don’t you take a seat and we can explain all of this.”
She said while gesturing to the not so strange strangers. After sitting down, I investigated the five in front of me.
“Alright, so what’s the story?
I blurted out becoming inpatient for the ominous answer that awaited me.
“Honey I need you to stay calm.”
My mom said in a hushed tone. By this point I just wanted an answer.
“ Will someone just tell what’s going on? I’m losing my patties with all of this.”
I whisper yelled, if someone didn’t start explaining I was going to lose whatever composure I had left after a long day at school. My mom and dad looked at each other as if they were preparing to say the worse news of their lives.
“Well, there is something that we haven’t ever told you…”
My mom said in a nervous tone.
“We aren’t you real parents, we adopted you when you were only six weeks old.”
My “dad” pitched in with a little bit more conviction than my “mom”. I don’t know what to say, I feel as if I was paralyzed by the words coming out of their mouth.
“Your biological parents are right here.”
My “mom” said directing her gaze over to the older of the strange faces. They were holding each other tight and began to cry, as I looked them in the eyes for the first time.
“Hello Isabella… um sorry Hailey.”
My biologic mother said to me threw a thick Spanish accent.
“Isabella?”
I questioned due to the utter confusion I was experiencing.
“ I am sorry, the name we gave you when you were born was Isabella.”
My real dad said.
“I am going to guess that you three are my bothers and sister…”
I concluded. They all nodded but I had no idea what was going to happen next.
