"No..". Covering your mouth in disbelief you sat on your bed. Tears welling up in your eyes.
You lay back on your bed and let the tears roll down your face. Why would he do this to you? What kind of awful person does this? You fell asleep crying on your bed and when you woke it was late in the afternoon, raining as it usually did in England. You could hear the drops hit the window as you looked out to see a grey sky looming over your dorm.
"How cliche to be so rainy at a time like this," You thought to yourself. ", Doctor, why did you leave me?"
You decided to sleep the day away, tea and sugar still on the counter, rain hitting the window, on your bed still dressed in your nineteenth-century clothes and not covered up under a blanket. You woke in a cold sweat at about two A.M from a nightmare you had, honestly, you aren't up for even wanting to remember it.
You rolled up out of bed in the dark, the only light there was was the streetlight shining softly through the window.
~Meanwhile; Jack's POV~
"Woah wait, are we moving?" I asked, "Wheres (Y/N), Doc?"
"We got a distress signal." The doctor said, not turning around to even look at me.
"You didn't take her with you?"
"No." He said flipping levers and turning knobs.
"Why n-"
"We don't need to pick up every person we meet on the way!" He snapped at me.
"Is this about Rose? Cause I think it is." I snapped back at him, "You cannot keep doing this the rest of your life, you aren't going to forget her but there is something here doc."
"I can not lose someone again, even if I kept her alive I'd still outlive her. I can't go through this again."
"Fine so be it, but did you ever think about how she would be feeling right now with you gone without a goodbye, after being you."
He whipped around shaking his head and yelling now. "What do you mean BEING ME??"
"Being all smiley and wonderful and showing them what they never would've seen in their lifetime and then just dropping them off and leaving them to their thoughts all alone, thinking 'what did I do wrong' " I screamed back.
"I thought you were dead! You know I would've looked for you!"
"You know what? forget it. But I want you to put yourself in the shoes of that girl doctor." I walked off down the steps to the entryway of one of the many corridors. I couldn't handle it anymore. He claimed to care about others' thoughts but I refused to continue letting him be selfish to people emotionally. I stopped a moment and contemplated if I wanted to scream anymore at him than I already had done, but I didn't. I just walked back to my room.
~Narrator~
After waking up, you didn't even bother to go to lesson. You sat at your desk and started writing something that maybe would help you cope with what you saw, what you went through and maybe why you were left alone for your mind to wander like this. You always wrote things in a journal that happened to you, and frankly, this was quite significant.
"Hi you," You wrote, speaking to your journal. "Maybe I'm crazy or maybe I hallucinated but yesterday, I met this strange man. He appeared in my room in a police box. Yes, a blue police box. He took me on an adventure and I almost died, but he saved me. He told me when we first met about all that was out there in the stars and how he had two hearts. Yes, two... He explained to me that he was over 900 years old and wasn't human. The blue box is called a TARDIS; Time And Relative Dimension In Space. I saw Buckingham Palace in 1873. Now, he's left me. I'm almost positive it was something I did, and that's okay, but I can't help but wonder what I'm missing, or what it was that I did wrong. I just want to know. I want to know w-"
You heard a knock at your door. You got up from your desk, throwing your pen down and made your way toward the door. You heard another knock again. You opened the door to see Jack standing in the door way. You just froze there.
"Jack?"
"Hi, (Y/n)"
"Um come in," Jack stepped in looking at you with sad eyes, "Do you want some tea."
"Do you have coffee, I'm not much of a fan of tea."
"Yeah, sure! No problem." You went into the kitchen to make him a cup of coffee as he made himself comfortable in your lounge. "So what are you doing here?" You happily smiled yelling at the lounge. You felt that seeing Jack was a good sign.
"I'm uh," He rubbed the back of his neck, "Here about the doctor..."
"Right! Another adventure?" You said walking in with a hot mug of coffee.
"No, (y/n)," He said taking the mug gently from you, "The doctor isn't coming back for you. I against his belief I think you should know why."
"He isn't com-"
"Just listen. (Y/n) The doctor is 900 plus years old so he's seen a lot of people die. People he's loved. He just lost a girl named Rose. She was completely human just like you. It's really hard to live nine hundred years watching those you care about leave or die. I just don't think he wants to see you leave or... die... Anyway, he loved Rose so much and never got to tell her. Well, one day, there was a race called the Daleks that showed up to us unexpectedly and Cybermen.. and..."He told you the whole story about how the Doctor had lost Rose.
"Okay, I understand." You said holding back tears, "It umm." You took a deep breath "Would've been selfish for me to bombard anyway." You started to cry.
"No, (Y/n) it has noth-" Jack was cut off by the sudden sound of the TARDIS accumulating in the next room.
You were frozen in place as you heard the thud of it landing. Jack turned his head around twisting his body to look down the hall with his mug in hand and a face full of shock. You watched the bedroom door open and the doctor stepped out into the hall, hands in pockets. He didn't have a smile on his face like he usually did.
Tears were still running down your face as the doctor spoke.
"I'm sorry." He said.
Not knowing what to say you got up and headed to the kitchen. You had to think.
~Jacks POV (short) ~
He walked in and she looked absolutely pale. I didn't blame her for walking in the kitchen. I wouldn't have known what to say. The Doctor started talking softly to me so she wouldn't hear.
~Narrator~
You heard every word that they said. It was never The Doctor's forte to talk quietly.
"I feel awful. I never thought about how it would make her feel. I just wanted her safe."
"You're damn right. Made her feel like a burden doc."
"She isn't. I just don't want to lose her."
You didn't want to listen anymore so you walked out and leaned against the wall in the lounge, arm crossed in defense.
"It's alright." You said meekly.
The doctor stood up and reached out his hand, Jack standing up with him.
"Would you like to travel through time and space with me, (y/n)?" The doctor smiled and so did Jack.
"I'd love to." You smiled taking his hand.
He pulled you the TARDIS and Jack followed. This was the beginning of something wonderful.
