Scott sighed as he glanced at the window. Night was falling and it didn't look like Malia had any where else to go. But he could worry about finding Malia a more permanent place to stay tomorrow. Tonight though, she could stay with him.

"You can take my bed." Scott told Malia as he rummaged through his shirt drawer.

"It's ok, I'll take the floor; I'm used to sleeping on rough ground anyway." She said firmly.

"No please, take the bed." Scott said as he pulled one of his shirts from the drawer and handed it to Malia. "And you can wear this." Malia took the shirt and immediately started to strip. Scott turned away and waited until she was wearing something before turning around again. The shirt was too long for her but complimented her figure very well Scott noticed. He shook the rather pleasant thought that came to his mind and folded the covers back from his bed for her.

"Where will you sleep?" Malia asked as she slowly climbed into his bed and pulled the covers over her.

"I'll sleep downstairs in the living room. If you need anything, just wake me." Scott said as he made to leave the room.

"Uh... Scott?"

Scott turned to Malia. "Yeah?"

"Can you..." Her eyes met his and Scott felt a tingle of electricity go through his body. Malia shook her head and laughed. "It's stupid and childish but can you stay with me?"

"Oh... yeah, of course." He took out a spare blanket and pillow from his drawer and placed them on the floor. Yes, the floor wasn't going to be the comfiest place to sleep but if Malia wanted him to stay, then he would.

"Scott?"

"Yeah?"

"I didn't mean you sleeping on the floor."

Scott bent his eyebrows. "Where do you want me to sleep then?"

"Here."

Scott didn't say anything more. He just stood up and slid into his bed next to her, feeling her warmth immediately greet him. He didn't know how long they lay there in silence, the only sound being the quiet rustling of the trees outside. Not that Scott minded the quiet, especially when he needed to think through what he was going to say to Allison tomorrow at school. Sighing, Scott turned on his side and closed his eyes.

"Scott?" A small voice sliced the quiet.

"Yeah?" Scott turned so he was facing Malia. Though it was dark, he could still see her face, could have accurately traced her features with his thumb...

"In case.. in case I don't get the chance to say it again, I'm gonna say it now; thank you."

Scott bent his eyebrows. "For what?"

She punched him in the shoulder, grinning. "You know what, dork."

He laughed. "Dork?"

Malia nodded.

"Ok then." He didn't realising he'd been staring at her again until she cleared her throat. Scott looked away and ran a hand through his hair before saying, "we should sleep." Malia nodded and as Scott turned on his side he felt arms wrap around his torso.

"Goodnight Malia." He whispered.

"Goodnight Scott." Malia murmured into his shoulder, her arms still wrapped around his torso.

Scott slept well that night, but it was only when he woke up in the morning and remembered what he was going to have to do at school that morning when his spirits fell.
