Scott was surprised but hugged her back. "What happened?" Scott asked, not letting go of her. Malia was silent for a moment but eventually pulled away and looked at him, her eyes unreadable.

"My-" she took a deep breath but hesitated. If she told Scott about her father would that put him in danger? Because her dad couldn't have come looking for her for a good reason. Maybe he was going to try and kill her? Malia bit her lip. She didn't care if she got hurt, but if Scott did-
"It was nothing." Malia said firmly but Scott looked disbelieving.

"So why did you run off?" Scott furrowed his brow.

"I... I was scared." Malia shrugged and crawled into his bed.

Scott nodded and halted at his next question. The questions could wait until tomorrow.

"You have a habit of making yourself at home, you know that?" Scott smiled and pulled his shirt off. God he'd missed her in that hour apart.

Malia smiled sweetly and patted the pillow next to her.

Scott got into bed next to her and leaned his head back on the pillow she patted. He turned to her and smiled.

Malia growled. "What are you smiling at?"

"My favourite were-coyote." Scott wrapped his arms around her waist, still smiling.

Malia wrinkled her nose. "Your so mushy, McCall."

Scott kissed her nose. "Only for you."

Malia rolled her eyes but smiled and turned around, curling into him. "I'm tired of being the big spoon all the time." Yes, Malia thought to herself. Tonight she would be the little spoon.

"If you say so." Scott wrapped his arms around her, pulling her closer to him. They lay there in silence as both of them gradually grew sleepier. Today had been a long day, and tomorrow would probably be another.

Malia, looked into the darkness, thinking about what had happened in the cave with her father. Her father. Today she'd seen him for the first time in 15 years. And she had no idea how to feel about it.

Shaking her head to clear her thoughts, she took Scott's hand gently and slipped it under her shirt.

And though she was sure Scott was asleep, she could've sworn she felt something harden slightly against her back.
