"Allison?" Scott managed to say in a disbelieving voice.
"Who's Allison?" Malia asked.
"She's umm.. she's my girlfriend." Scott said, looking down. A long silence passed between them.
"Well does she have trust issues?" Malia asked, finally breaking the silence.
Scott looked up. "No!" He tried to say firmly but it came out as an unsure mutter.
"It might not be her-" Malia began but Scott cut her off.
"She's the only person I know who wears lavender perfume and who would have been watching us."
"Why would she have been watching us though?" Malia asked. Scott chewed his lip.
"Maybe she thought..."
"Thought what?" Malia pressed. Scott shrugged, still chewing his lip.
"Maybe she thought I was going off to meet someone..."
"Like who?"
Scott was saved from answering when his phone buzzed followed by his ringtone. He pulled his phone out of his pocket but wasn't quick enough; he'd missed the call. Sighing he checked his notifications.
Missed call from Allison
Missed call from Allison
Missed call from Allison
So it was Allison who was ringing him earlier. He thought to himself.
"Who was it?" Malia asked quietly.
"Allison." Scott muttered.
"Are you going to call back?"
"No, Allison can wait. We should get you inside first." Scott said, shoving his phone into his trouser pocket and beckoning her toward the house.
