Scott's POV:

Scott wasn't really sure why it was the woods he went to, but he knew it wasn't his human senses that had lead him there. He had felt his claws snap out the moment he was through the school doors and then he had ran. Ran and ran. Ran until he was so deep in the woods his surroundings were unrecognisable. So he stopped and waited. And at that moment, three things happened to Scott at once. The first was the smell that hit his nose like a truck; a smell he had come to know like an old friend ever since the night he had been bitten. Blood. The second was the ear-splitting noise that pierced his ears so suddenly. The familiar ringing that was now louder than ever. The last thing that hit Scott was realisation. The realisation when he put the two together. The blood he was smelling wasn't animal nor was it human; it was something different, something rare, something in between. And the ringing he had been hearing all day wasn't ringing. It was a heartbeat.
